Don’t get compliments often, but I can think of a few when wearing YG references.
Although at the grocery store the other day, the cashier said he liked my chronograph....asked if it was one of the Fossil chronographs...I smiled and said thank you...it’s actually a Daytona chronograph. He said...love the blue dial. Was actually nice to see someone under 20 interested in a watch,(no matter the reference) and politely make a compliment

My gold sub generates scary much attention. I actually use it less and if in public I often put it into my pocket.

I do get complements on my watches and I think it has a lot to do with where you are wearing it. I get a lot on my Seiko's not just my Rolex or others.

Only from watch salesman, friends and family.

Just the way I like it, the average person does not notice or care.

I get regular compliments. My DSSD, Datejust, And Panerai seems to get the most. Interestingly, I don’t think I have yet received and compliments on my Sub or Day Date.

I wear a blue Tudor black bay most days, 99.9% of people have zero idea what it is (which is how I like it).

Most people really know a sub or a datejust and its says "Rolex" = fancy watch, you could be walking about with a platinum calatrava and most folks would think its a £200 steel dress watch.

Sub and Gmt hardly gets noticed. The Milgauss GV is second. The one that gets the most compliments is my PAM 1312.

It is weird. I own some great Rolexes, they almost never get compliments, and I’ve got full YG & RG Pieces and SS pieces.

A year ago I bought a Breitling Navitimer and the 1st day I wore it it was complimented like 10 times. One CEO in my biz group even said, “wow, what a beautiful watch!”

Me and my friend tried to speculate why Rolexes aren’t complimented as much. Maybe because the look is common now so that it’s below general visibility or people think they’re fake or ....who knows

Kind of interesting though

All the time. From my customers and associates. 5-10 times per year from random strangers.

Everyone loves the HULK.

I've had a DateJust for roughly 8 years before I got my BLNR. Very little compliments on the DateJust (as expected I guess)

The BLNR on my small wrist gets attention, more to the fact "Is that a Rolex" than anything else. Keep in mine, I'm in my upper 20's.

My dblue gets complements pretty often, usually in beach/bar situations and cigar lounges.

Not too much more than what the service cost would be for my Hulk!

I’ve owned it for less than 6 months and have gotten no less than 10 compliments on it, including from a CEO of a large insurance company. The reason why I’m mentioning this is because in 8 years of Hulk ownership I haven’t gotten even 1 compliment, not a single one.

So my question, do you guys ever get compliments on your SS Rolex watches? And how does this compare to different brands in your collection?
30 yrs rolex ownership and possibly 3 x comments which equate to 1 x comment every 10 yrs

I received my Explorer I less than three weeks ago and have received two compliments on it. Surprised me as it is about the most understated model within the lineup.

Compliments in watch stores or other high-end retailers DO NOT COUNT!

I got one on my black Daytona, and that's it. I've gotten a few on my APs and, weirdly, my most-complimented watch is my Speedy Pro. Most are from people who are also into watches, but I've gotten a few from people who have no clue what it is but just love the aesthetic. I think it's the combination of being stylistically vintage and not immediately sticking out as a high-end brand -- people might feel awkward pointing out a Rolex because, well, it's a Rolex.

I agree 100000%

The brand that has gotten the MOST compliments ever for me is Panerai. No one cares for the Rolex's, IWCs or APs.

Get a Panerai if you want the compliments

I've received two compliments on my watches. One on my SKX 009 "Pepsi" and one on my Steinhart 39mm "Pepsi" GMT. I really think it had more to do with the color combination in both cases.

Neither watch was confused with a Rolex.

~ Two weeks ago while shipping a package at FedEx. The clerk is a WIS and we had a great conversation about Rolex and other brands. Then last weekend, my wife and I were at Costco and the cashier said nice watch, is that a Sub? I thanked him and said no, GMT Master 2. We chatted for a few seconds, he seemed into watches.

Nobody ever noticed my Sub for over a year, except for the people who know that I'm into watches that is.

I got a DJ 16234 3 weeks ago, and 1 day after I got it the guy behind the cash register goes 'woah, nice watch!'.

I was flabbergasted. All I could say was 'Thanks, I only got it yesterday.' :D

Virtually never got compliments on any of my watches in 25 years of wearing Rolex until I recently got the CHNR. Have had several on it, and it gets noticed without anything said even more. It stands out as a beautiful watch even to non-watch people.

One compliment from pre-owned BMW sales man and once from the service adviser at the same dealership. (Used car salesman himself wore a datejust and service advisor's father-in-law has a sub.)

Now I go there wearing long sleeves.

I've received more compliments on my Omega (the one in my pic) than I have on either my Tudor or my Rolex. I guess because my Omega is very technically nice to look at and has beautiful colors vs the pretty ordinary looking Tudor and Rolex.

That is interesting. Coworkers noticed my SubC Date quickly. Several random people in the first few weeks too. The DSSD seems a lot more conspicuous to me, but doesn't seem to pull much attention. I guessed it was the lack of Cyclops that made it less recognizable to the casual observer.

Anyone ever notice your Pelagos? Only once in 4 years for me, a young guy at a tiny liquor store in a small mountain town. I was floored when he said something.

One of the reasons I never wanted or want a YG Rolex. Just too much attention

A few weeks ago I took one of my kids to a doctor. He looked at my wrist, I was wearing my CHNR. He asked about it, wanted to know how long I had it and if I had others. After a few questions I asked him to pull up his sleeve and show me what he was wearing. It was a new rhodium dial DJ. He was very chuffed that he got to show someone who knows about watches his new pride and joy. He is no WIS, just happy that he has a nice watch. And .... he is a great doc too
