If Rolex: Datejust 36 or OP in 39/36/34
If not Rolex: pretty much any Nomos can be had new for well under 5K. You could possibly even get a Nomos AND a Tudor BB 58 for under 5K which seems like a very solid 2 watch combo that works in literally any situation |

Zenith El Primero 1969 38mm
I bought one to mess around with and it's seeing more wrist time than any Rolex I own. I also like it more than the 42mm Speedy I used to own. I like chronos and this one is super versatile depending on the strap. |

You have $5k for a used everyday watch under 40mm. What would you buy?
Oris Aquis 39.5.
You get a ceramic bezel, quality bracelet/clasp, 300m water resistance, a nice blue dial. Perfect daily & beater watch imo for around $2k. Invest the rest and call it day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wait a few months, you might be able to get a watch only 14060 for 5k.

The speedmaster is a fantastic watch with a great history, but as an every day watch maybe I’d prefer one that shows the date. Zenith El Primero is an obvious option to consider, or perhaps a Panerai if that’s your style. Or add a few thousands and get the ultimate every day watch, the Rolex Submariner :) |
