buying a new Rolex and making sure it is not a fake
Hello
I have recently ordered a new Rolex Exp II 42m from a dealer. When it finally arrives - what steps do I need to take to ensure it is a real Rolex and not a fake one? Thanks! |

Check the dealer out before you buy the Rolex.
Not sure if you mean a grey or an AD?

If the dealer is an authorized Rolex dealer, no worries. The Rolex website lists authorized dealers. If it’s not an authorized dealer, you have no absolute assurance what you are buying is genuine inside and out. I would pay with a credit card. If the watch turns out to be less than advertised, the credit card company may be able to get your money back. However, finding out the watch is not real after you receive it is a little too late and can be very difficult.

When it finally arrives? Is it coming from that far away?
Anyway, you should have asked this question before buying and done your due diligence on dealer first. The first sign something may be wrong, is the fact you can't fully trust your dealer. Best of luck OP. Sent from my SM-N950U1 using Tapatalk

Packages shipped by Pony Express take time. Just hope that Jesse James and his crew don´t catch wind of the contents.

People jumped all over the OP but he’s in Australia and I’m sure many watches take a little time when ordered out of the country. I assume it’s from a grey market seller. Now that you’ve bought the watch you can probably name the seller and get some feedback.
Bottom line, you can take the watch to a local authorized Rolex dealer and ask them to inspect it for you. You can also post pictures here and get a group evaluation. |

hello everyone,
I am sorry I did not provide enough information about the "dealer" because I am totally new to this forum and new to Rolex in general. The dealer where I paid my deposit is listed as an 'authorized dealer' on the rolex.com web site, located in Melbourne, Australia. Therefore based of your replies, I should be 100% covered and no need for any further checking of the watch on delivery?? (It is not a "grey" dealer or private seller) The watch is still coming, i.e. brand new, I am on a waiting list of several months, according to the dealer. Due probably Sep/Oct ? I was never going to buy a Rolex from any other kind of dealer because Rolex is one of the biggest 'fake-attractions' on this planet, along with Louis Vuitton products. In fact this stopped me from buying a Rolex until now because every time I see one or a Luis Vuitton bag I wonder if it is a fake or not. |

An AD is Melbourne...? You can sleep very easy on that one.
Congrats and relax until it arrives. PS. limited supply of sports models down-under, amazing that we have to wait for even a humble Explorer...

I guess a funny guy would say bring it to an AD, but I guess that would mean bringing it to the same shop.

Help with Validating New Platinum Day Date
Hi - hoping for confirmation on my new Platinum Day Date. I purchased this watch new last month from an authorized Rolex dealer. The thing that seems weird is the number of "non-screw" links in the bracelet. Total number of links is correct (24) but please look at the total number of links without screws. I've posted pictures of both sides of the bracelet. In other pictures of this model I've found online it seems like it should have one or two more non-screw links (and one or two fewer removable links). Could you guys look at my attached pics and reply if I should be worried? My poor watch now lives in my bank safe deposit box because I'm worried about this. Thanks !

If you purchased from an AD, the chances of getting a Fake Are About 0%. If you are still paranoid about it, take it to an AD and get it checked out. You can also go to some of the better Online Dealers Websites and compare yours with theirs in minute detail to authenticate, or of course post the photos here and let the TRF Wizards have a look.
