Good Sunday evening!

So, I have a nice, early 1803 with alpha hands on an early president bracelet. That stopped the "itch" for 6 months. I really like my archaic, non-quickset 1555 movement, complete with that classy butterfly rotor. I'd share pics but my TRACFONE provides only two levels of resolution: Bad and badder. I may have posted previously in response to whatareyouwearing posts back in January before I got the bracelet cut and sized.

Anyway, now I find myself drooling over 18038's.

Are the lug dimensions and geometry constant/unchanged between the 1803 and 18038?

Rationalizing with myself, I tell myself I could SAVE THOUSANDS by just buying a nice example ....on a strap.

I recognize that the 18038 got a quick-set feature and the saphire crystal. I just haven't read anywhere if the case changed any, or not, and the uncertainty is killing me!

The case of the 18038 is slightly thicker and heavier. The case back is also more round n thicker. And the bezel is taller/thicker. Unless u compare them side by side, u won’t notice the difference, except the bezel of course.

Never mind the length, it’s the camera angle.

Thanks, Sam, for the side by side. I was not aware of the caseback change, but I see it there.

Would you think that the bracelets are interchangeable between 1803 and 18038?

I get wordy, but that is my goal, if possible, since two heads are always better than one!

There is a early 18038 casebacks and a later one be aware, otherwise I think the previous posts have covered the differences

From my experience, the bracelet might not b a perfect fit between 2 references. It depends on how much wear is on the lug holes, especially if u use original Rolex pins. But if you use generic one, it might fit with some adjustment.

I blame it on autoconnect.

Ha! Again, thank you. I have learned that peeps who use steel posts -- rather than forking over for gold rolex pins, inevitably ...and irreparably I think (?) -- grind out and oversize the holes in these 18k cases: Sacrilege!! If I can't beat the fever, if I purchase a 18038 on a strap, it'll be from somebody reputable with a 14 day return policy.
