I'm going to disagree ever so slightly and ever so respectfully with brockburst because I needed a tire for my vintage cycle this past week. I'm not a vintage cycle enthusiast by any means: I love my bike and ride it, and try to maintain it reasonably. But I do dip into the vintage forums and blogs when I'm looking for advice on what might be a decent choice for a tire. Don't sell yourself short, fellow forumites, you are providing a valuable service even for the casual consumer of Rolex/vintage Rolex products. You stop folks from making bad decisions every day. So, while an individual thinking of buying a single vintage birth-year Rolex might not be ready for the insane collector's lifestyle that so many of us have fallen victim to, they might be ready to check out what others are saying about their potential purchase and be willing to accept some advice on a superficial level, perhaps even enough to keep from being disappointed in their purchase. Since our collective advice seems to be generally "buy the seller", it's hard to go wrong, no matter how hallucinogenic the names of the dial variations might be.
