My 300th post and involves something glossy!

300 posts strong-low budget glossy content inside!

Let me tell you a story...at 200 posts I featured my matte black DJ:s:

https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=737559

...the 1600 in that thread was inspired by member Richard Carver (borrowed you pic, hope it’s okay):

I am pretty sure that it inspired many to go matte black, smooth bezel and non-cyclop...that set-up is just one of the best!

By this “anniversary post” I hope to be an inspiration to others to do the same built that I have done! I feel that this is something new that I haven’t seen before...

It began with me started looking at glossy Omegas like this one:

After contemplating I decided that I instead of getting an Omega I should keep myself on the Rolex route and look after a Rolex that I can build to a SS glossy black dialed watch...first I needed a base watch to start building on and I managed to pick this 16000 up pretty cheap:

Then after months of searching I finally sourced a glossy dial that I loved from Firstclassdials.com (Killer Service btw):

I was actually at one time ready to throw in the towel on this project and just keep borrowing my wife’s 6694 that is semi-glossy (but only 34,5mm big):

But I kept struggling (since I needed at least 36mm) and had my watch smith to finalize the glossy black DJ project!

Enjoy! (Mounted on various straps)

Wifey’s vs mine:

I love it. I feel like Michael Corleone, "just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!" I keep swearing that I am done buying watches. Now, I am on the hunt for a glossy 36mm. Thanks!!!! Enjoy your weekend.

Here is how it was on the jubilee...first time in history I like a watch better on a strap...

Thanks! Really hard to photo the dial so you get a good feeling of how glossy it is...

The strap on the last picture is really nice! I too like it better than on the Jubilee. Enjoy!
