Kai, I remember seeing post about 5 point snow cap for Middle East market on the FPN just a week ago.
Maybe you are on the post?

Yes, I bought that pen
At that time I was quite sure it's genuine but for the cap it could be aftermarket. Last night I disassembled the cap and took some more pictures.

It looks very original, not those glued in type. Even if it's aftermarket, it was done very professionally.

I see.
It's certainly an interesting piece and you've picked it up for very little.
I'm going to read through the post on FPN again.

Kai, that would be very cool if all of the pen parts are authentic but what really matters is if you are happy.....as long as you enjoy your pen and get satisfaction in using it!!!

Thanks Leo, I'm very happy with the pen - it's been well looked after and it writes a very F line which is what I like. There is a little flex in it so that's the extra bonus.
Whether the cap top is genuine or not, it does not worry me at all. If I were to sell it, I'd fit a normal snowcap and be done with it. This 5 point cap stays with me

Just received a confirmation from a pen expert that this 5 point star was indeed produced by Montblanc for the middle east. After some pens were released, they got complaints that it is a pentagram and they switched to use the triangle instead. So, very few of these 5 point star pens were produced. Anyway...

I picked this one up from the post office today.

MB 149 75th anniversary Limited edition, MOP snowcap, rose gold pen.

Well, another one. This time it's a NOS cheap student pen, similar to Tudor for Rolex, it's Monte Rosa 042. A relatively small pen, with a gold plated steel nib. This model was only made from 1956-1958 and it looks like someone has stocked up a pile of these pens and forgot about them for 60 years. Saw quite a few of them in the market lately... It could be fake but I've yet to see a fake MB piston filler...

Cap imprint is still crisp and clear.

The barrel imprint has faded a bit.

Nice dome shaped cap top.

Wonderful flexi nib.

Nice one Kai I like the line variation

Your grail You mean Skeleton Charlie Chaplin

It just goes to show the best writing pens aren't always the most expensive.

Kai, what a very nice pen you have there and I do like the line variation so I guess I need to find a vintage flexible OB nib to use and enjoy.....
