Ladies Rolex OP Crown Fail
throwing this out there...
my wifes OP crown is free spinning. about 5 years since last rsc service. the watch is going in for a full service this week but is this typically a regular fail for ladies 24 - 26mm rolexes? i've never seen this before on any rolex but my guess is that since the crown is 18K (maybe 14k?) does the softer composition of the gold make this a more common problem on ladies since the turns to lock are not even 2 full turns? please chime in if you've seen this before. Thanks in advance. |

Is the crown loose on the stem or can you just not wind it?
If you try to wind it, does it hold the wind or spin back? |

Hi bas
It winds fine. Just won’t lock. The crown isn’t catching the thread. When I push in the crown and try to close it, it doesn’t catch and just spins back into the #2 position (crown out). |

Probably a worn tube/crown thread. Pretty common issue.

Now if the watch was serviced 5 years ago I'd try to go to an independent and just replace the crown and tube, gaskets and do a pressure test. If the rest is working fine, that is.

you know what, i was thinking the same thing. the watch is a peach and i'm not noticing any other issues. good time keeping, charge etc... its been 5 yrs but it only has about 2yrs of wear since she doesn't always wear it.
