Congrats that looks great.
Looks like a bit of corrosion under the edge of the crystal. Maybe it would be good to get that looked at by a quality watchmaker??

You are rigth
it is a 5513 gilt dial (1966) in a 5512 (1959) head. I hope I can find the grail-dial soon!

Gregorpal, I doubt that's a case from 1959 (but of course I could be wrong; correct me if I am). Those aren't the original style pointed crown guards. Yours are the second version PCGs. Perhaps you have a case back from 1959 but a case from the early/mid 60s.
What's the serial number on the case? It's a lovely watch. Enjoy. Great strap. |

Looks like you have a case from 1960, a dial from the mid to late 60s and (possibly) a case back from 1959. I say "possibly" because you pointed out the watch is from 1959. I assume you refer to the date stamp on the inside of the case back. Have you looked inside the watch? Which movement do you have? Do you have photos of the movement? Wear your Sub with pride. |

Thank you for your help. Both case s/n and caseback stamped III59 match perfect. IŽll do my research and consult experts here. Thank again.

Thank you again. According to the oysterworld chart it could be, as you say, a case from 1960 (I checked the VRF serial number project). I donŽt have any pic of the movement, but it is a 1530 butterfly one.

Congrats--nice watch!!
The dial fitted to your 5513 would be found on a 1.2-1.5mil 5513 (1963-1965ish) submariner. If your watch is a 1959, it would most likely have a gilt glossy chapter ring dial. Also, better post your serial number here on the forum, as some serial dating charts on the net aren't that accurate. Edit: I see it's 554,xxx, definitely a bit early for the dial fitted. Either way though, a nice watch! |

Thank you Michael. The dial belongs to a 5513 s/n 1.42X.XXX I have. Just put it in the 5512 until I can get the proper dial.
