I have been recently considering getting my wife a sport watch. After visiting ADs and browsing the web this last month the only sport watch she has expressed an interest in has been the Tudor Lady Sub. She prefers its styling which is very similar to the Rolex submariner, but is a much better fit for her wrist size.

I have found one for auction on EBay Gently used Tudor Lady Sub. Being a neophyte when it comes to watches and especially Tudors, I have no idea how to tell genuine from fake. The watch above does appear to be legit to me, but I would like to hear opinions from some of you veterans.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It looks good to me, but keep in mind you would be buying a 20+ year old watch. Even though it has been serviced in '03, doesn't mean it's going to work properly, especially since it has been laying still somewhere. It'll probaly need an overhaul soon.
I don't know anything about resale value on this model, so I cannot advise you there! Sorry! I'm sure somebody will give you a better answer...

I think it looks pretty good too. Price seems pretty fair especially if you can get it under $1,000.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your your input. My wife and I feel more confident now in bidding on the watch.

abigsecret, you make a good point about the age of the watch and the fact that it has probably been sitting idle for a very long period of time. If we end up winning the watch, the first thing we will do is contact the Dallas RSC to inquire about servicing.

From what I can see the watch looks authentic, the seller has been around eBay for over 5 years, and has solid feedback including sales of brand name jewelry. If I was in the market, I'd be ok bidding on it.

I don't know anything about these watches, however, I have never heard of a "Lady-Sub".

BTW, the printing of "Lady-Sub" looks pretty poor. And why does it say Sub and not Submariner ?

For a period of time in the 80's and 90's, Tudor made 4 sizes of Submariners...the full 40mm size, a 'mid' size 37mm, a Mini-sub size at 32mm and then the Lady Sub at 26mm. I suspect that Tudor was just trying to accomodate a wider market for people with different sized wrists. All originally has the folded link Oyster bracelet, early ones with Rolex markings and later ones with Tudor markings. Then the Tudor Jubilee with small links was offered and then the 'newer' style Tudor Jubilee with different link sizes.

It was marked Sub on the Lady's and Mini probably because there wasn't enough dial size to spell out Submariner. As for the printing, I suspect it's nothing more than the camera angle.

If you fall into the group that shuns Ebay, then none of their photos or sellers will ever look good. If you can feel comfortable after researching, with Ebay, there's nothing wrong with any of the photos.

Never seen one before but it looks OK and I doubt if they have the value to make them a worthwhile copying proposition yet.
