Juwelier Michel aka Piyar Doganay

I recently purchased a Breitling Cosmonaute from what I thought was a shop advertising on Chrono24. I agreed to pay €2650 for a mint condition watch with a box but no papers. Upon receiving the watch the watch was not mint, it appeared it had been languising in someones back garden for months as there was green residue between the chrono pushers and dirt between the lugs. Also the box that was sent was different from one he sent picture of and also broken! When I contacted him regarding the misrepresentation his response is that it was a private sale therefore he doesnt care. If you notice on his Chrono24 ad it states he speaks english and German but when I messaged him in english he didnt understand nor did he respond properly so I ended up using Google translate to arrange the deal in German.

Please avoid this con artist. I've contacted Chrono24 about the incident but I doubt they will do anything about it.

Having issues uploading pictures of the watch will upload later this evening.

Very interesting

There is a president I'm interested in and the pic was showing a polished lug one which is 2001 onwards. For around 7k

Clearly not the correct pic at all. I reported to chrono.

Really sorry to hear your news on the new watch, I can only imagine the dissappointment when you opened it.

I hope it works out for you and you get your money back.

Chrono24 are useless when it comes to resolving anything. They're like a dog without teeth.

I'm not surprised at what you have shared, definitely upto his old tricks. I bought a 1959 Memovox which was in better condition!

Chrono24 is like a big unregulated Ebay, way too high prices and no dispute resolutions possible, not to mention a terrible feedback reporting system.

Strange indeed. This has been a respected seller so far, but I do not speak of own experience, as I have never dealt with him. Good to know that not everything that shines is gold.

Respected seller on chrono24 doesn't mean anything. If you look into it everyone is a 'trusted seller since xxxx' there are no non trusted sellers. I reported this guy to chrono24 and they done nothing about it.

I am not talking about chrono24 seller. He had a good reputation as a seller on the German market with a physical shop.

I too had a major problem realier this year with Piyar (Juwelier Michel) who gave me the run-around for ages over a $37k Patek (that did not have archive extract as was advertised AND confirmed by email). I contacted Chrono24Support and they were superb. They mediated (took ages as Juwelier Michel were obviously trying to avoid doing the right thing!!) a satisfactory arrangement under which Piyar exchanged the watch for one with appropriate papers. Even then, the dial on the replacement watch was worse than the first.. But, I was fortunate. Notwithstanding, I would agree that it would be advisable to give Juwelier Michel a very wide berth!!

He wanted to avoid the duty of care provided when purchasing from a business seller under EU law.

Really, has he ? Do some searches and you'll find out.
He is obviously a shady "business" man. Every reputable business would accept the return of the watch without hiding behind a private sale.
Chrono24 is not a place to shop, the term trusted seller is misleading at least. Even E-bay offers more protection.

No problem with Jewlier Michel

Sorry to hear you had a problem with Jewlier Michel but I purchased a Rolex white gold pearlmaster with bagette diamond bezel and black mop diamond dial, with box papers etc, described as being in mint condition from him and I must say it was superb, truly mint and everything checked out.

I agree his grasp of english is not great (neither is my german) so I had to use translation a lot, but his communication was great, answered all my questions and sent the item quickly by next day express delivery. After a bit of bartering the watch was a great price too, at least 2k cheaper than anyone else.
So all in all I must highly recommend this seller and I would buy from him again.

Don't forget, if something ever goes wrong with a purchase it's always a good idea to pay a tiny amount by Credit card to get section 75 payment protection and of course your always covered by the consumer protection legislation when buying in the EU.
