Silicone bands
Why does it seem that lots of watches are coming on silicone these days.
I have my omega on a 50 dollar aftermarket bracelet Because I feel the omega silicone band makes it look cheap |

Because they are cheap. But if I am not mistaken I thought the Omega strap was rubber?

A good quality natural rubber or caoutchouc watch band consists of polymers of organic compound isoprene. They’re even infused with vanillin or real vanilla which gives off a nice scent and helps with flexibility.
They certainly cost more than a simple ss bracelet (think lowest grade watch to premium grade which can range from 301L to 316L) by a wide margin. Prior to be getting a rubber-b for my dssd I tried a cheaper rubbery band and liked it a lot. The difference from the $25 to the $200 rubber-b was worth it considering I put it on a $10k watch, at the time. And silicone is not rubber. Silicone is quite cheap. |

They are a good practical alternative to bracelet on an actively worn watch.
Especially on watches where strap change takes seconds - ie Panerai. |
