This is right about at 10k preowned and has a perpetual calendar, chronograph, and moonphase.

Well if you like black or dark dial, why not to take a look at IWC IW459003?

Definitely the one I'd go for. Different but very beautiful.

What better than a moon watch to display a moonphase?

Always wanted the 3576.50 but thought it would be too redundant with the 3570.50.

If we're talking <$10K in the speedy dept then the White Gold 3689.30.31 should be mentioned (if you can find one - should have bought it when I could) and the 3575.20.00 broad arrow. Both are rare.

You can get an Arnold & Son Perpetual Moon in steel for under $10k pre-owned, definitely worth looking at.

Bought three days ago, certainly mechanically inferior to a manufacture but still a good 7751 Valjoux.
Price $ 2,000

How are there 2 pages of moon-phase talk and not a mention of coolest MP maker around?

Sarpaneva (since many have already gone over the budget).

But under 10k new, my vote is the JLC.

I love moonphases and for looks this is easily one of my favorite moonphase calendar watches regardless of price, particularly the gold version. Thus, the steel version would be my choice under $10,000. It's not available in a black dial, however, so you may want to consider the Ultra Thin version, which is also quite attractive and more modern looking.

I also really like the GO Panomatic Lunar, albeit in a silver dial but they do have a black dial available. It echoes the Lange 1 but I actually like the looks of the GO better. The GO has better movement finishing than the JLC but overall the classic looks of the JLC wins out for me. Regardless, either would be great pieces. You may also want to consider the current Reverso Tribute Calendar in steel and the discontinued Grande Reverso Calendar in steel as well. Both JLC and GO offer a lot of watch for the money and can be had at a discount new or used.

The Arnold and Son huge moonphase also looks awesome but it's definitely a less traditional take on the moonphase.

They come in many different dial colors, including black.
And, they have been around for a few years. I believe there are 3 different variations of the dial.

But the best moonphase under 1,000 has to be this...

Here is my vote and a little backstory. I recently acquired my second and final grail watch. I got lucky and found this one second hand, but still new with plastic, box, papers, etc. ]from the AD. The gentleman that sold it to me bought my watch, a Rolex, and a Lange as part of a package deal from his local AD. The Lange was the watch he wanted and thus sold the JLC and Rolex.

I got a GREAT deal on my Q1558420 and couldn't be happier. It was about two weeks before JLC announced their new customer care program as well so I am covered for eight years with the warranty.

Personally, I am not into precious metals on cases (nor can I really afford it and would always chose white gold even if I were) so the fact the JLC makes high end pieces in SS is a bonus to me.

A few pictures where I like to spend most of my time. The Atlantic Ocean coastline in southern North Carolina.

Ochs und junior moonphase

You can customize all the details. If you want a black dial, you can have it.

This watch just came out recently and it's my first watch nerd watch. I have an Omega SMP and a Heuer Autavia but when I first laid eyes on this watch it was love at first sight. At 40 mm it's seemingly perfect in every way. Checks all the boxes and at 2350 it's basically free. Don't sleep on the longines.

That Longines is a nice looking watch and a great value.
