Alright... Enlighten me on my Montblanc... or whatever it is...

You guys say my dad's MontBlanc Meisterstuck has a "Questionable" Authenticity.

Some say it's resin. I don't know what is Resin!

The story is, that my dad bought it on the 70's or 80's while he was Distribution Manager of Volkswagen del Caribe (Caribbean Volkswagen). He bought it in Berlin on one of his trips to the Annual VW Conventions in Germany. Dad likes sightseeing. So he went to lots of places in Germany. He's Almost certain it was in Berlin. But we have no way of proving.

The pen is quite Heavy, but comfy. It's a Vintage for my knowledge.

Let's hear what you think...

Is it plastic (resin) or metal? and it should have a serial number either on the clip or on the band around the cap...

Is it really old? I have seen an old Montblanc that color.

Nice either way!

I've checked it again now that I know what resin is... where its painted blue is plastic. The Clip, tip, and where it says MontBlanc Meisterstuck are chromed metal. And on the clip it doesn't have sn visible. :/

And I just compared it to a pic of a Resin MB. Yep... same material.

Also, I've been lurking on the Fountain Pen Network... they say that they had no serials until 1989...

Vintage... And its between 1969 & 1984. Those where the years dad worked in VW.

Gaby, since you have found FPN, why not ask the folks there for their opinions?
Even though I got like 40 Montblanc pens, I still keep on learning new things about MB and I repeat - if I have called it wrongly then I do apologise.

Gaby,

I have a lot of xp with MontBlac. There is no doubt in my mind its a fake. Besides the dubious color & material the pen is made of; the white star on the cap is way off. Its to large. As Niko would put it...."its a Fugazzi!"

Sorry for your loss. Enjoy it none the less.

Gaby,

You know me and I certainly wasn't trying to be offensive in any way, but as I know your quality, I know that you would want to know anything about the pen as you posted on this forum.

Can you post some better photos for my digestion? I would like to get a better look at the metal particulars.

Also, I would suggest that you take it into a MB Boutique or send in into MB for authentication. That would answer every question about its authenticity. They will actually authenticate it in writing on their letterhead which is quiet nice.

I am still of the opinion that it isn't authentic. I am not concerned about serial numbers, but it is the appearance of the piece and the quality / details of its workmanship that has me in question

My very best wishes to you.

Richard

That's correct, no SNs until 1990.

Gaby, even if the pen turns out to be a fake it still was your father's pen and I would keep it and use it with pride!!!
