i'm stuck between pam 111 or 112. i love the sandwich dials on the 112 but like the seconds hand on the 111. any input would be appreciated...help

Hi P4,

Welcome to TRF.

There are a lot of nice Pams with a variety of manual and auto movements.

Between the two you have listed, I like the 111. I thought the Pam 111 had a sandwich dial?

I welcome any excuse to post a pix of my only Pam (so far) which has the same 6497 movement as the Pam 111 but without the second hand extension.

000/005/111/112 all great choices and defining what Panerai is about.

Wearing my 111 on a Julien Landa Ammo at the moment.

My personal preference :

The 111 and 112 don't hack (stop the watch when setting the time). This means you're going to have a devil of a time setting an accurate time.

For me not being able to set the seconds exactly on a cosc-certified watch would drive me to distraction.

The 112 solves this problem by not having a seconds hand and as a consequence has a cleaner dial.

Actually there is a way to hack the 111.

While at full wind the mainspring is to powerful to hack the movement with slight back pressure on the crown, allowing the watch to fully wind down and giving it just enough to start the seconds hand allows one to "hack" the small seconds hand with slight back pressure.

The sandwich dial rocks!!

The 111 has a sandwich dial. Both the 111 and 112 are fantastic historic pieces as well as their painted dial counterparts the 000 and 005.

the exact watch i'm thinking of getting. i get both the seconds and sandwich

For me regarding bases (aka 2 handers), I'd go for the
000 (lum), 210 (rad) or dream 232 (rad se)

For historic marinas (aka manual 3 handers), I'd go for
111 (lum), 001 (lum) or dream 190 (rad 8 day)
