New JDM-only Snowflake...SBGA421

From this article:

https://wornandwound.com/grand-seiko...the-44gs-case/

"The SBGA421 is new and very limited release for the Japanese market, and features Grand Seiko’s iconic snowflake dial with truly stunning red accents on the bezel, seconds hand, and power reserve indicator. The caseback, also, is translucent red sapphire glass. This reference will be available in select Japanese retailers only beginning at the end of February, and will be limited to just 390 pieces."

I would get on an airplane just to buy this piece. So lustworthy.

I suspect he was referring to the SBGN011/13 in the linked article rather than the image of the new LE Red Snowflake.

It's looks alright overall. I wish the markers were also yellow gold for a bit more color.

The red back is odd. You'd think the AJHH would want to show off the movement more.

Man that caseback is terrible... Grand Seiko needs to get some perspective with these intrusive prints on see through casebacks. I'd rather they just get rid of it all together and make the watch thinner without the sapphire caseback.

JDM model, with the front having the red and gold symbolizing the sunrise, and the back presumably being the rising sun (like the flag).

Another approach I suppose could have been to have all the visible bits colored red, but that surely wouldn’t have been the same price.

When you put it that way.....I guess so....but I still think it's a terrible application all the way around. Would have preferred them to do a solid caseback with some red dot print if they wanted to represent the Japanese flag so badly.

Like it, and love the dial texture. However, I’m not a fan of the color red. If it came in Navy, I’m all in.

As GS releases that came after the seasons collection, the autumn special edition (red hold dial) and the blue GMT SBGJ235 feel underwhelming.

In my view, GS needs to do more innovation than just different dial variations

I really like it. Not better than the blue hand, but equally. Here’s the thing, I’d buy it, but I’m not shelling out another $6k for a nearly identical watch. If I didn’t have a Snowflake already, I’d definitely get this piece...but I don’t need two, separated only by the second hand’s color. Again, I’ll say it over and over...if you think you can understand Seiko’s marketing, you’re just grasping at straws.

I'm quite familiar with all the models available including the 18k case models, the rose gold models and platinum models.

What I am saying is, at these current price points I wish the would spend the monies on finer elements that are value added.

I absolutely love Kill Bill (Vol. 1) and especially that scene between Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu. Maybe that's why I love this new JDM Snowflake so much.

Just shut up and take my money! I'm glad that it will probably be sold out the next time I go to Japan because I would buy that on the spot assuming it's not grossly overpriced.
