Newbie....PAM 335 vs 317

Hi All

I've decided to dip my toe into the Panerai world

I've narrowed it down to the two models above (I think) but having trouble deciding between the two. Any input and opinion would be greatly appreciated

There's also a circa £2000 price difference between the two, do you feel the 317 is worth the extra?

All the best

Those are two of my favorite ceramic pieces. It really is going to come down to what sings to you the most and if you want to pay the extra money for it.

I personally love the 317 more than the 335. I absolutely love the look of the chrono on that piece. If you are keen on the chrono then i would go with the 317.

If you are able to find a used K series 317 that would be great since if I am not mistaken the movement was actually PVD as opposed to the new ones that are not. So it gives the illusion its a darker movement.

Some people like the 335 more becuase the dial is not as busy and it has a longer power reserve as well. 8 Days vs 10 Days.

If I was in your position and had the means. I would go with the 317.

They both are busy watches but i prefer the 317 to the 335. Good luck finding your choice.

I think they're both spectacular choices.

I'd always gravitated more towards the 335, as I felt it was a better representation of what most of us know Panerai for (clean, relatively simpler dial).

Other considerations that drove me towards getting the 335:
- Figured I'd use the watch quite frequently, given its case material and scratch resistance , so the automatic movement was a plus;
- Realize its color and size might not be ideal for the office; having a 10 day power reserve coupled w/ auto movement makes it an easy watch to pick up and wear for the weekends or spontaneously at night, without worrying about setting / winding
- Domed sapphire on 335 seemed more "pronounced" - maybe a byproduct of the simpler dial
- Simpler movement - hopefully less to go wrong; also translates into lower price

317 for the PVD movement.

Plus, I think the chrono function with the ceramic Luminor looks better.

I also like the 317 more with the 8 days, but if you like the 335. With the 10 days, and the date window, go for it. Good luck

I really like the various Monopulsante iterations and so would opt for the 317. (I'm wearing my 275 as I type this.)

Per the Firenze boutique from a few months ago, the Monopulsante line has been discontinued and thus will become harder to find in the future I imagine. I do not know if the 317 will go beyond this year, the 275/311/et al aren't being made anymore (so I was told).
