Expand upon your half phrase. Because now you fall prey to my hatred of poorly used phrases. Also your context is wrong, what 'glass house' do I have to break? And what "words" are my 'stones'? Your metaphor does not translate well here.
Whilst we're on the topic of phrases people get wrong. A jack of all trades is sometimes better than a master of none. The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb. Rome wasn't built in a day... but it burned in one. True story. THE LADY DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH. |

The parallel he is drawing is that clearly in this case you are admitting jumping on people for not using language correctly, because it is some sort of pet hate of yours; yet in threads you have started yourself you are prone to use whatever incorrectly-constructed phrasing you feel like, to sound cool. c.f. the thread you started recently on your Incoming / Watchfinder experience, in which you gave us the intro blurb and then said "without further adieu, here she is". [for the avoidance of doubt, the terminology for which you were looking was 'without further ado'] I expect you will say it was fine because you knew what you meant and were deliberately mangling the language to be clever and ironical. |

However, credit where credit is due. You did find my malapropism, a slip up. I posted that on my phone, so whilst inappropriate to Shakespearian English 'Much ado about nothing'. My phone has no reference to Shakespeare and in my laziness, I accept substitutes on such matters that have no real significance to me. (I know I posted it through my phone, due to the pictures. I can only post them whilst on my phone) That was quite fun nonetheless. Thank you for your input. I can see why you're an accountant. You can probably see why I'm a banker! (cockney rhyming one too) |

Hit me up when it happens. I'm openminded and can see a lot of things happen but not this.
I can see it happen if/when Rolex cut ties with every AD in their network and/or only keep a few big ones around and everything else is owned by Rolex (boutique) and perhaps then they'll offer watches online. Without shipment, pick-up and sizing in store. |

Regarding the policing of grammar, wish it were that I could always be vigilant. I know the rules except sometimes I'm so caught up in the moment; I press "submit reply" in way too much of a hurry. I have noticed a propensity for the Brits not to be able to write English, however. Maybe they're even more hurried. |

I can think of x3, off the top of my head, that have lost their authorised dealer status, and another one due to retirement, over the last six months. I know there’s more. I’ll go first: Tarratts (Rugby) Mappin + Webb (St Andrews Scotland) Fraser Hart (Peterborough) Eric Smith - Retired (Newton Mearns Scotland)

I believe ADs lose their agency status where they do not upgrade their Rolex display areas, at their cost, to Rolex's liking and specification or they do not strictly comply with the myriad of everchanging Rolex polices regarding lists, face to face transactions, non discounting, selling watches still in the plastic, holding warranty cards etc. etc.

Rolex demanded their first 3 newborns..born to employees and staff at every AD..be directly turned over to the Rolex Education Branch to be raised by Rolex from day 1.. to be watchmakers and sales people for boutiques. But these AD's steadfastly refused..and were promptly dropped by Rolex..
Don't mess w/Rolex...lol.. |
