Experiences upgrading TT to PM at an AD?
Has anyone traded in a TT for PM at an AD? I'd like to know whether people have been able (1) to get a decent trade-in value from their AD for their TT (as compared to what you might get for selling or trading the TT on Bob's Watches or somewhere similar) and (2) whether you were able to still get 20% off PM with a trade included as part of the deal.
Thinking about upgrading Bluesy to PM. |

So kind of like trading in a car?
I doubt you would be a "decent" trade in value from an AD . If you want a decent trade in why would you get a discount?

IMO impossible. If you do not care about money, keep both. If money it is a concern, do not get a PM.

I think it might be tough.
When I had my bluesy which I paid a little over $13k for, i asked the same AD where I bought it for how much they’d give me for the bluest as trade in value. They said somewhere between $7k and $8k. I sold it for more than that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Don’t expect anything going mostly in your favor when trading at an AD. You will get a lower trade in on any model - period.

I would think trading with David or another seller here would provide a much better deal on both the front and back end.

Done quite a bit of trading "up" at my AD and have *always* got less than I hoped. Sometimes waaay less!
Make no mistake, the AD has been in biz for 35 years, his staff are knowledgeable and friendly and the owner, who frequently serves customers, is a sweetheart. Kind, warm and helpful. He's no nickel and dimer. They sell PP, IWC Tudor, Tag, as well as having significant high end jewellery clientele. Water, exotic coffee, swag is always given away freely. It's a good place to buy a Rolex as far as I'm concerned. Been to Tourneau and a couple others which were horrendous. Insulting almost. This AD will always help with a discount, usually removing the tax. (in Canada, tax is steep) But trade-ins regardless of length of time owned or watch model are rarely beneficial to the customer. Understandably, re-stickering, clean up, new warranty cards, etc. are hard costs but if possible and cash is important, try t sell your watch privately if you can. In my case, losing money hurt, but I didn't have to deal with strangers coming to my home or meeting in public. Who knows if they're "packing', have an accomplice ready to 'hit and run' (That's me they're hitting!) or any one of 100 things that could 'liberate' my watch without paying for it. Yes, It's easy to think the worst, but I didn't want or need hassles, so whatever I lost in the transactions was worth it. (To me anyway) I couldn't address the trade / PM issue you asked, but I sure you understand the tenor of my post: sometimes saving money is not worth it. I'd sell privately and buy what you want from an AD.
