Sub C more special than the SD4K ???

Sub C ND or Date more special than the SD4K Ceramic
or non ceramic ?
Comparing 40 mm only not the SD43 50Th...
Both classic looking and very versatile as well
what do you guys think which is classier and

My favorite Rolex is my 16600 and 116600. I bought a 116610 as a daily beater because I didn’t want to daily the sea dwellers but wanted a date function. So, since I bought the 116610 I would say the sea dwellers are more special to me. It’s hard to find nice condition 16600 as from everything I have read were produced in smaller numbers and we already know how short the production was on the sd4k. So I figured it would be easier to replace a 116610 compared to the others.

I don't think any Rolex divers are more special than the next, but mostly because they're all amazing. If I could have only 1 it would be the Sub Date LN. I think it's the most versatile and best all around with it's gloss dial, slimmer case (for fitting under cuffs), and date the most useful complication for majority of collections.

To me, the SD4K is more unique and special. It has better proportions and is less common than your SS sub. I actually traded in my Sub for an SD43 because I felt the SD was more special and unique. I think I would have made the same decision for the SD4K, though it might have been a slightly harder decision because of some of the similarities.

Always thought the SD4K looked better proportioned than the broad shouldered Sub-C, and the lack of cyclops allows you to have a date without nearly as much visual asymmetry on the dial.

Couldn't get over the lugs on the sub and it was never comfortable for me. The SD4k on the other hand feels really comfortable. Oh and I couldn't get use to not having a date.

The very short production run, the domed crystal, the date but no cyclops, the matte dial, the smaller lugs, the minute markers all around and the engraved back make the SD4K more special to me, but there is no wrong in the Sub C either.

I think they're both incredible, and incredibly classic. My head and heart want to lean towards the SD4K, but in reality my wrist wasn't feeling it. I've tried it on several times with intent to buy and every time I was disappointed in how it looked and felt on the wrist.

While I do love the context of the watch (discounted model, slimmer lugs, no cyclops) how it looks and feels on the wrist is the most important thing to me, as I believe it should be to you too.

I think they are both absolutely gorgeous and i had the same dilemma last year.

Ultimately, decided that i can buy a SubC any day (well almost any day) but the SD4K was more rare and harder to get, especially BNIB, so i went with that and haven't looked back.

if i had unlimited disposable funds, i would have one of each.

Hard to say which is best, as I’d guess it’d be different for different people. For me, I prefer the SD4K due to its proportions and uniqueness. I finally acted upon my preference yesterday by trading in both my SubC ND and BLNR (with cash back!) to get the SD.

As a side point, my head always wanted the SubC date but when I went to purchase one the ND won me over due to its cleanser more symmetrical appearance. I feel that the SD retains this symmetry very well whilst also adding in the date too.

All divers have proven to be great watches. I think the 116600 is just a bit more special than the 116610 or the 114610. It's seen a lot less and has a shorter production run, the thinner lugs are a plus for a lot of people. Of course the lack of the cyclops is a bit special. Th thickness of the case isn't loved by everybody though.
Overall I would choose the SD4K!

Might be more common but overall its the most iconic Rolex, thickness ,weight good ratio

Buy what you prefer. I prefer the Submariner Date, so personally, I would buy that.

I really like both, more special: The Sd4K (higher diver tech), more versatil for everyday the SubC with date. For a only one I preffer the 116610LN.

I’ve owned both and IMO the SubC is the better looking reference and it feels better on my wrist. The simple dial, and pure looking bezel, just exudes class.

I’m not knocking the SD, it a fine piece, but for some reason, I could never quite get the right fit

Now the SD43 is a whole other matter. It’s my favorite diver in the Rolex line
