You can have only 1; BLNR, SubC ND or SD4K, what do you choose?

Hope everyone is having a lovely morning/afternoon/night all depending on where you reside.

I would appreciate some thoughts on the above scenario, so please fire away with your answers bearing in mind the below background/history...

I currently own both the SubC ND (first Rolex) and a BLNR (a birth month and year watch for my youngest) but could do with freeing up some funds. Do I sell one and if so which one? or do I sell both and get a SD4K which I feel gives me the best of both watches (adding a date to Sub and the uniqueness and strong residuals of the BLNR and also removing the sentimentality)?

In terms of selling one that I already have, letting the BLNR go with its meaning to me would be hard, although I feel that the SubC is a better one to keep if moving to a one watch collection.

Appreciate the forums insights...

Niki

P.S. Here’s a quick photo just because it seems no post is complete without one!

I would keep the BLNR, it’s a gre looking watch and has sentimental value to you.

Really personal decision... all 3 are great watches.

I'd say keep the BLNR since it has the most sentimental value.

I’m biased as I own a BLNR and neither of the other two so I like it more. Despite that and removing the sentimentality from the equation as it’s subjective and personal to you, if I could only have one watch and it had to be one of those, it’d be the Sub. If having a date is hugely important to you, then SD would be next choice. BLNR is not perfect as a one and only.

Tough call due to the sentimental reasons.

Of the 3, SD4K is my favorite by a long shot

I'm quite happy with my BLNR. It's the most practical of the three listed in my humble judgement.

I also own a 14060M, so I'm not in the market for another diver.

If you can have only one watch, you need a date function with Cyclops on that watch, which is a typical Rolex symbol. From your current collection, you should keep the BLNR for sure.

BLNR.

Every time I wear mine I tell myself this would make a perfect one and only watch.

If you remove the sentiment, the SubC no date for me would just get the nod.

But, with the sentiment added in, the BLNR would be the one, for obvious reasons, and its still a great watch, and only half a rung below the Sub in terms of preference, so a no-brainer with the added sentiment.

Really tough call....You can't go wrong with either. If pressed I would recommend the SD4K. It's the perfect size at 40mm, a little extra thickness is cool and it's a pretty unique model. The short production run is a bonus too.

I’d keep the BLNR. Most versatile of the 3 being considered, it has sentimental value, and you already own it. I think you lose a bit in any sell/ trade scenarios. It’s also such a special piece.

I am a little confused about the sentimentality thing - the way you've written your query, it almost seems like you're suggesting that having watches without sentimentality is better? Because unless this is the case, I agree with those who say that spinning out of the BLNR is a mistake given that it has sentimental value.

The answer is you choose the one you like the most regardless of what it’s worth and what other people think.

As for what I personally think. IMO the BLNR is a special watch. I doubt Rolex will use this combination again when production is finished. There will always be a Sub ND is production in one form or another.

Thanks for all the replies coming through so thick and fast!

Looks like the BLNR is way ahead which is what I thought would be the case. I do love this watch for sure and the added sentimentality would make it hard to sell also. My only concern is how “flash” this piece is for a one and only, compared to either the SubC or SD.

In honesty selling either of my current watches would be tough, which is why I am contemplating selling both to get the SD4K (which seems to give me the best of both). Like you all tho, I think the sentimentality shines through...

Appreciate all the comments so far,

Niki
