Datejust with black dial

Lately I've become a fan of the black dial on a DJ. I think it really nicely walks the line between sporty but can also be dressed up. But from what I've seen here, silver, white, and blue seem to be more popular (those looks great too, I love every DJ dial ). Perhaps it's because we mostly associate black dials with the Submariner, GMT, etc and want something different on a DJ -- I'm not sure.

Would love to see any wrist shots of black dial DJs (36 or 41) from those that have one.

My daily DJ has a silver dial .. I love the black dial, but I prefer a black dial on a 116203 .. 36 mm TT with oyster bracelet and smooth bezel .. That is the perfect "sports" DJ

I've had both but last year ended up with a 41mm white. Nothing wrong with black but I'm happier with white.

I would go for the black one, enjoying also the roulette date wheel. Silver is also cool.

You could post the link to a site like imgur.com with the picture. I'd be very curious to see it.

I literally just got the black dial. I was in same boat as you. Not as many of these with pics on here, but saw it in person and it made the decision for me.

I love black watches. I had the dj41 black dial jubilee. The only thing that bothered me was that the black dial had a brown tone to it and Looked brown in some lights. I prefer a jet black or a matte black dial. In the end I flipped it for a DJll rhodium diamond dial and couldn’t be happier. It has more wrist presence without being too loud.

My guess would be some people have both a Datejust and Sub/GMT so they already have a black dial watch. I do like the black dial on the Datejust.

You have, and it was worth the wait - beautiful!

The roulette date wheel is just icing on the cake for that one.

Looks great. Lots of great looking watches in this thread. I think the black dial in the 36mm watch is especially cool because of the railroad track for minutes around the perimeter.

I specifically wanted the watch for the roulette date wheel. It’s one of the little details that made me favor the 36mm over the 41mm

In my case I wasn't as fond of the black dial that was a replacement dial on my DJ 16013 and changed the watch back to its original form.

Black is a very common color for a sports model dial, so for a 'dress' watch I prefer something other than black to mix things up. Silver is too hard for me to read, so Blue is my preference for my next DJ.

You can't go wrong with the black dial but for me (and maybe most others) I already have several black dial watches.

Recently picked up a DJ36 fluted jubilee stick silver, because I can't think of any other watch which could pull off a silver dial quite like the DJ36.

This is probably the most versatile Rolex IMO. DJ41, black dial, smooth bezel, Oyster. Could easily pass for a sports watch. Love this setup!

I have a black starburst dial on mine and I love it. It's dn near impossible to read in almost any lighting, but man does the sun grab the facets.

That looks amazing. I thought I only liked fluted bezels but your watch is gorgeous.
