Finally... Got it!

Put my name down on a Submariner Date 18months ago. Got the call on Friday saying it was in stock at an AD.
Its my first Rolex which I have wanted most of my adult life.
Had Tags, Omega's etc, none have come close to my new Sub.

Was surprised that they have held back the guarantee card for 12months now so I don't sell it on straight away. Not bothered though.

I had a Tudor while I waited for the Submariner. I really liked it but I will only ever wear this now. So I traded it back in, getting more than I actually paid for it 18months ago, so was even happier.

Picked it up yesterday morning at 9am (UK) haven't stopped looking at it yet!

Really great story, congratulations. It’s nice to read a story like this, unlike some of the other threads that are on this site right now.

Congrats on the pickup!

But wow... 18 month wait for regular Sub Date? That's a bit intense.

I was not in a crazy rush and I did not want to pay over retail, I was enjoying the Tudor. To be fair they did call me around xmas but I was not in the position right then.
My friend who came with me to collect it put his name down for one, they said it would be around 2yrs.

Agreed. I think that's a ridiculous time frame for such a reference. What happened to the days when you could walk into ANY AD and buy a sub. Blows my mind. I remember when my AD had SubC's in their vault in coffins.

Gone are the good old days.

I didn't know it was going to take that much time on getting a Sub... usually it is 1-2 months maximum here, but different city I guess...

To the OP: Enjoy your piece bud! I just didn't know it was that intense in the U.K.

wow 2 years wait for a SubC Date, I am expecting a 2 month wait at most when I am ready to plunk down some cash for one. Maybe the situation is different based on geography?

It must be geography - I waited 3 weeks (just north of you) and received mine in May

New dial layout with the “dancing letters” for the “superlative ... certified”?
