The nagging feeling of wearing non-Rolex watches... it's not a Rolex

Sounds like you’re more interested in status than watches themselves

I enjoy wearing my Seikos just as much as I do my Submariner.

I totally agree! for me it was the fact that as a kid my grandmother had a Rolex and I always admired it and said “one day I’m gonna get one too” and ever since the day I finally got one no other brand has held my attention. When I wear it I just remember the kid I was that always noticed a Rolex on someone’s wrist and admired and wanted one so now that I am no longer that kid dreaming and instead I am that man living it no other watch brings me that joy.

The OP is a wind-up merchant.
A pretty decent one at that, to give him his due.

There's no other feeling in the world like wearing a Rolex.

Rolex is the main watch brand I am attracted to and all I own, but I do want one of these Longines.

Only think keeping me from buying is the nato strap. I hate nato straps and would like a bracelet. I'd love one of those stretchy SS bracelets for it.

Difficult to sell? If you had bought a 5711 a year ago you would now be looking at a £20K profit easy.

Went and looked at the Omega ceramic POC 9300 chronograph today. What a watch. It has a lot of wrist presence and way more tech then my D500 but at the end of the day I know which one would stay at home lol. Quality wise no difference at all for the price maybe a notch to the Omega but still. Irony is I walked out with the Daytona it went up 7k if I walked out with the Omega I’d loose 5k instantly.

No exaggeration when I say this, but there is no modern Omega I would purchase over a modern Rolex. Vintage is a different story.

Oh there are a lot of watches I want from other brands when I win the lotto a few times, and never would it cross my mind that they fall short of Rolex.. unless I fall into water. Or if someone I need to piss off had no idea what my Patek was. I have wished I'd opted for my big golden kiss my arse Yachty before.

+1. I value diversity over brand loyalty. All of these make me happy when I put them on.

Beautiful watches and stunning collection.

However, the point of my OP was to describe a lingering "nagging" feeling one receives from wearing non-Rolex watches -- not whether or not other brands make you "happy."

That Breitling Aerospace is a true classic. Had my eye on it ever since college in 1994. Couldn't afford it at the time. If I were to ever buy a Swiss watch with a battery in it that would be the one.

Thank you.

And I don’t get that nagging feeling which was my point.

Sorry for the double post. Didn't think the first one went through.

I love watches. But owning Rolex taught me to love watches in the first place.

Rolex are different and unique for me, and hold a special place for me, and nothing else touches that place in the same way. Nothing, at any price, high or low. Doesn't mean I can't - and don't - enjoy them. But it doesn't make them a Rolex, either.

That's why I'm on this forum. If that makes me a snob or a philistine, OK. A man could have worse problems.

When I travel internationally, depending on where I am going, sometimes I leave my Rolex at home. What I noticed is that I felt naked when not wearing a watch... So on a trip to Spain I bought this Swatch in Barcelona and very happy with my purchase. Even put it in my domestic rotation and always get compliments

Agreed. I ordered a Ball watch last December and it just arrived about a week ago. I love it and even though the bracelet is snug, it is getting wrist time in air conditioning while I await extra links. I love my watches but role gets a large chunk of wrist time.

I love Rolex as much as the next person but I still enjoy other brands just as much.
If you were lucky enough to get a Rolex as your first high end luxury watch then fair play but I start off with Seiko then Omega etc so I got some affinity still with those brands...heck I still enjoy my Casio Square for its solar GPS unrivalled accuracy time keeping...I even set my Rolex to it.
