We love Whippets, but never got one because we foster greyhounds and end up keeping some. We've had three pass away, currently have three, and fostering two, which one of will be adopted-out soon and the other will probably stay with us.

Here's Skully, the foster that will probably stay with us. He had a hard racing career, got in a racing crash in which he hit his head on a pole and fracture his skull, thus the name Skully. You can see a few of his racing scars (he has more on the other side) and because of his injury his depth perception is messed up and now he only likes to turn right. He was adopted, but his owner unexpectedly passed away, so now he's with us. He is so sweet.

When we decided it was time for a dog I voted for a German Shepard. I grew up with one and he was like a brother to me. But my wife grew up with a Bichon and wanted to go with a small breed. The kids (2) also liked the idea of a small dog and I knew that if I used my executive Dad power to decide the issue with a big dog it would be my responsibility 100%. Small dog it is!

My wife stated researching small breeds with an eye on Bichons but the wife struck up an online conversation with a hobby breeder about Shih-Tzus and was intrigued.

Fast forward to a bunch of email exchanges and this breeder said she just had a litter, and here's the pictures. One look at a particular pup and my wife was hooked. The runt of the litter, also the most boisterous of the bunch, was the one. Not one like her, but THAT exact dog. We live in New Jersey but this breeder was in Missouri. Wait... what??!! She couldn't find one on the east coast?? C'mon, you can't swing a stick around here without hitting a handful of Shih-Tzus! Nope. Had to be that exact one.

So one round trip plane ticket later we had our Ginger. Funny, but I thought we had gotten a dog. Turns out the dog got us. Me in particular. She owned me and knew it from the get-go.

We only had 10 years with her, but she lived like a princess, spoiled at every turn, and gave us unconditional love. It changed me in ways I never could have imagined. It's been 2 years, 7 months, and 24 days since she passed. I don't think I'll ever get over her. Fabulous breed, awesome with kids, love to be around people. hypoallergenic, no shedding.

Took me 7 months to be able to do this, but I created a tribute video to Ginger. It's a shameless ripoff of Apple's Think Different ad.

They are like a family member. My mother did not want another dog after our childhood dog passed, partially because the dog’s passing hit her so hard and she didn’t want to go through it again. We suspected that Tiffany was her favorite family member.

This is my 3 1/2 year old Cairn Terrier. He’s a big dog in a small dogs body. Definitely a stubborn and spirited breed.

He’s been sick and tired of everyone’s sh*t since day one

All kidding aside, I was always into larger breeds (grew up with a Rottweiler). Bulldogs, both English and French, have swayed me for sure ;D They definitely have big dog personalities trapped in a smaller frame.

I just love dogs; big dogs, little dogs, stupid dogs, smart dogs... I'm just a dog person. Always have been.

I grew up with Labrador Retrievers, but my dad was a dog handler in the Air Force so I always had an affinity for German Shepherds. I hunted with pointers and flushers, and my dad's last dog was a German Wirehair Pointer. She was gorgeous. German Shorthair Pointers are amazing dogs, too.

Irish Terriers are one of my favorites.

Our pupper right now is 15 pounds of fury... a Shitzu - Yorkie mix. Sounds dumb, but she's a cool dog that loves to cuddle. (I haven't been doing much hunting lately, haha!)

Had a right mixture as a kid;

Collie dog & Jack Russel when I was a small kid
2x Dalmatians when I was a teenager (1 of which was used to film 102 dalmatians)

I have always wanted a Doberman, also spent the last 2 years looking at Saarloos and Tamaskan Wolfdogs.

I now own a 10 month old Siberian Husky female.
