Incoming! Montegrappa Espressione in blue

Wow! I didn't know this pen existed a week ago but as soon as I saw pics of it I knew I had to have one. I found one on eBay for basically nothing again from the same dealer I bought my other two Montegrappas from. I watched a few reviews and all said it writes about 1.5 grades finer than the nib size. I ordered a broad and it's great! Dead smooth steel nib. It's even smooth writing in reverse! I've never had a pen that was as smooth in reverse as most pens are standard. The nib is really small for the pen but it doesn't really bother me. This pen in blue looks as good in pictures as it does in person!! It's a translucent marbled electric blue. Amazing color with metallic sparkles! The cap will also post on the threaded finial and the clip lines up with the nib when tight. These Montegrappa's are really top notch with quality. My other two NeroUno's have been nicely made as well. I didn't need to do any work to this pen. It wrote and looked great right out of the box. Here's some pics! I really approve of this pen!

This pen is jeweled on both ends with the same electric blue marbled material.

I was cleaning another pen tonight inked with Diamine blue lightning and the water in the glass looked exactly like the resin the Espressione is made with! This has to be the perfect ink to match to this pen! It's one of the inks in the Diamine shimmering series. I have a bottle of their night sky as well. Both have been great inks so far. This Montegrappa has been great too. It's a small steel nib but it just is a great writer. No complaints about this pen! Love it! It hasn't given me any trouble at all and I always am impressed with it when I use it.

Really nice pen. could you show how the lines look when you write? I like my fountain pens to really flow.

No problem. I'll do a writing sample for you soon. This model, for whatever reason, runs about a size smaller than the stated nib width. I ordered a broad nib after reading several reviews. Typically I like a medium line. This broad writes like a medium though. The reviews were spot on. With a little pressure this broad writes like a European medium steel nib. The other seriously odd thing about this pen is writing in reverse, it's dead smooth. It puts down a nice fine line but it's as smooth in reverse writing as regular writing!

Here you go. I brought 2 other pens to work with me so I threw a sample in for reference. The Montegrappa nib on this pen does put down a thin line. I would suggest getting the biggest broad nib offered on this model if you like a wet line. The sample is on Rhodia paper.

Another pic of the pen showing how translucent the resin is.
