Seiko VS Seiko 5?

I search around on the web but can't find the differences between seiko and seiko 5? Anyone can help me out a little bit?

By the way, I have a yachtmaster but looking for another watch for daily beat up. I found this one. Any Recomendation?

The differance between a Seiko 5 and a regular Seiko is 5 attributes
1. Automatic Movement
2. Water Resistant
3. Shock Resistant
4. Day Function
5. Date Function
There are exceptions to this rule. Some labeled as 5's actually meet only four attributes, but those are mostly 7s26 movements without the day function. Some Seikos meet all five and aren't labeled 5's. The label was introduced in the 70's at a time when a watch that had all those fuctions was far more expensive and the 5 became a marketing tool.
As far as the example you provided, that is a nice watch. You should also check out the SKX line. Really, any Seiko is a good choice, as their value most times vastly exceeds the money spent on them.

The 7S25 comes with only the date. The 7S26 comes with the day and the date.
I would recommend the new 6R15 movement. It is built into their Spirit, Alpinist and Divers series.
Recently, I just bought the Samurai Titanium Orange dial online (which comes with the 7S25). It is on the wayyyy...

The 7s26 is an improvement (some extra jewels during the "jewel wars") in the older 17 jewel 7009A automatic movement Seiko introduced in 1970, and is different immediately than others by the crown between the 3 and 4 markers. This movement made it's way into their dive watches and top end mens watches to compete with Rolex and Omega in the Men's auto arena. These excellent movements became overshadowed by the increase in Quartz movements at the time..

Any of these movements would be excellent "daily beaters"

Here's an early Seiko with the 7009A. 35 years old and still an excellent timepiece keeping ~+2 seconds per day accuracy.

I have a 1977 6309 daydate Seiko. It is a great watch that has been a work horse for many years. I just bought a 1971 7006 19j Seiko in ssteel. Both have all 5.


The 6309 8101....my dads watch recently restored

Not technically a "5". Again, some examples have the 5 attributes and are not marked a Seiko 5. Yours is such an example, thus, not truly a "5" by Seiko definition. But that doesnt mean it isnt a beautiful example of Seiko value, longevity, and great looks!

Almost have a difficulty saying this... but it get more wrist time than my Omegas, and it got more wrist time than the Rolex. (before I sold it)
