Gmrt master ii pepsi vs submariner 16610lv

Gmt master ii pepsi vs. Submariner 116610lv how will be the estimated value in lets say 10 years from now? Which watch is more likely to be collectible in the near future?

Dunno.

Get both and you'll be a wealthy man one day.

Seriously...these were mass-production watches. Nothing rare about them really.

If you don't want both, buy the one you like - and will WEAR.

It's a watch!

Get what you want ...........

As Masagu noted Rolex are production watches, really good ones, but production watches just the same. Without some special provenance, a modern Rolex will never appreciate like a Patek.

I also agree with him that you should get the one you want and will wear. Collectability to Rolex enthusiasts will depend on total production numbers of each watch, the condition you keep the watch in and unknown model changes and development into the future.

Your best opportunity for appreciation is to "buy the watch right", used in MINT condition now or buy new and never wear it until it becomes NOS in the future (way into the future) with all the accoutrements (books/boxes etc...).

Buying a excellent used Rolex at good price and you probably will not loose much money if you need to sell it in the near future. Learn how to source and buy used Rolex's at excellent prices and you can make some money on flipping them. Many TRF members do this as a hobby and some make a legit business out of it.

Don't forget one of the reasons that the used Rolex market is as firm as it is because of the Rolex policy that prohibits AD's from discounting the product line... thus supporting prices in the used market accordingly.

If you really want a good investment right now that you can buy and sit on into the future, I recommend you buy equity in select technology companies, the better home builders and of course, right now, residential real estate.

Either of those watches will probably hold it's value very much the same..

There are fewer Sub LV's that have been made simply because the GMT II has been around longer.. But, in 10 years, there will be many regular Subs that have had the dial and insert changed and nobody will be able to tell... It will be highly "faked", and easy to do so, therefore, I would not expect it to be the next "Newman" investment.

Until you send them in for a service and they come back with a standard size dial and black bezel...and a hefty bill to boot.

If you want a "collectible watch", you need to look at other brands. Modern day Rolex watches are so mass produced, they will never be like what we call vintage today.

BTW, the pepsi GMT is my all time favorite watch, so I would pay more for it 10 years down the road if I did not already own one.

IMO the LV would have the better chance of a higher value.
