May 2019 OP posted bitcoin was $8100, Dec 2020 bitcoin is around $27k. Better to compare with a 116500 than the BLNR..
Personally I don't understand bitcoin so I will stick to a Rolex that I can wear and enjoy and watch my FANG stocks appreciate..

you don't need to be able to engineer and build an airplane to take a flight... Bitcoin is a immutable and deflationary asset that is a store of value for millions, and millionaires... what more do you need to know?

I can remember when I first really heard about bitcoin it was $70, and then I was like, I don't know about this... and did not invest...

Talk about kicking myself. Seriously.

If any sort of wealth tax passes anywhere what it will do to Bitcoin will not be pretty.

Plus, the people that pass these taxes are also indirectly in control of Fiat currency. These greedy enemies are not good to have.

I heard of Bitcoins at $30 when an old manager was raving about them to me, what a visionary! Not sure did he get any.

Tbh if you were an early investor in a lot of companies (eg Apple, Tesla, Amazon etc), you’d have similar returns now.

I find it difficult telling the time on a Bitcoin and it looks too big for my wrist.

Really? Unless I am missing something, I don't think so. Bit coin is over $28,000.

Neither the watch nor ₿ are investments, but ₿ has gained 8.9 Million % in past 10 years...

So I guess the ₿ buyer is by far richer now.

I bought several watches with Bitcoin profit a few years ago. I know I missed a lot of the run-up this year, but I'm thinking of jumping back in.

It’s better to say, “I don’t understand Bitcoin” rather than to say it is a gamble. Bitcoin or blnr depends on MANY factors which are very specific to you and your allocation of your own net worth.

If BTC keeps this pace over the weekend, Monday’s GBTC opening price will pop.

Dear Jerome Powell,

Please continue diluting the USD into oblivion by leaving the printers on 24/7/365. Maybe even consider buying a few more printers and really upping the output. I am fully in favor of this approach and think it is fully sustainable over the long haul.

P.S. Nice Submariner.

Word to the wise from someone who has invested for decades: diversify.

I enjoyed the thread title, but it’s never an either/or move.

It’s always about allocations and adjustments over long periods.

I assume you are aware of how much energy consumption is used in Bitcoin mining.

Bitcoin's energy consumption 'equals that of Switzerland'

I have friends that are clearing out their savings and cashing out of their 401k's to go all in on BTC.

They either want yacht money or living in a cardboard box on the street money. All or nothing.

I am no where near that level of commitment.

I am at 'Holy crap, I think I can afford a freaking Ferrari' level of commitment.

.
All or nothing thinking is counterproductive to successful long term investing. All or nothing is gambling.

Pick a % to allocate to safe investments and a smaller % (maybe much smaller) to riskier asset classes.

When one significantly outperforms, adjust to take the gains. I used to do this annually and only in small changes. Bitcoin requires quicker moves.
