1966 Day Date President 36 Gold

total newbie here

apologies in advance

I guess it's a model 1803

1966 and actually has box and papers - the old red box

the bracelet has some sag but it appears very clean

I am making a deal with Bob's watches

looking for any opinions

i tried to post a link

but due to my newbie status i can not post any links

so this is more of a philosophical discussion lol

we can play a guessing game

how much do you think i am paying for this watch ?

very nice condition

certified by Bob's watches as well as the Rolex box and papers

I am a car collector and I am active on many car forums

I know ... not much about watches ... I have bought a few gifts through the years

and always do the research ... make the purchase and crawl back under my rock and

have to re-educate myself as to the models and the market

help?

and yes - I did in fact look through the classifieds here - some very nice stuff

Welcome. Be sure to show some photos once the watch arrives. You can upload smallish photos directly, if that helps. The General Discussion forum has a sticky thread with instructions.

Always make a deal that you are happy with, then enjoy your watch

(You know, nobody can really "certify" anything for Rolex)

If the watch is on their website but you can't post a link, perhaps tell us the item number and we can view it that way to form an opinion? If it is one of the 1960's watches they have listed (I didn't see any from 1966 specifically), the bracelets have more than a little "stretch" and will need rebuilding.

Love to see the watch! The box and papers on the 1803 is just something extra! Is the little “plastic zip-container” that holds the papers also included?

And yes - there is a fair amount of stretch to the watch - but it's a gift for our son and I'm happy to source a good tradesman to do some work at some point

I can only assume that there is now plastic pouch or hanging tag (as if I even know if a '66 Rolex even had a hanging tag)

Great advice - I responded to the watch emotionally and walked away and reached out to a friend who is a watch guy and got some counsel ... then basically bought the watch

I have 3 days to return it and I know they will but it back in the future for 75% of my purchase price

As I may have mentioned I'm a car collector - a world I ma very comfortable in - also very emotional -

watches?

they make fantastic gifts - I have been given 2 great watches

and I have a few in the safe that I should pull out and get more info on

nothing remarkable value wise

a few stainless Rolex and there is a gold Day Date that I bought for my wife

so happy to have found this forum

I am in many car forums

It took me a minute to even think that this forum would exist

of course it does

cheers
