Mexico?
Would you feel safe bringing a Rolex to Mexico? Mostly staying at the resort but might leave the property a couple times.

Yes. I wear mine every time I go. I don’t leave the touristy areas.

My experience is limited to Cancun and riviera maya. Never had any issues. Never felt uncomfortable. There’s actually a Rolex AD in Cancun. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Unless you're cartel, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Obviously just be aware of your surroundings.

I got out of the cartel a few years ago. You’ve been to been Neuvo/Puerto Vallarta and had no concerns?

It depends on where you would be going to in Mexico.

Why risk it? Why make you and your family a potential target? What is the benefit of bringing an expensive item like a Rolex on a vacation?

Forget the watch...its you they'll kidnap or worse LOL
I'm part mexican and wouldn't think about going to Mexico right now. Many ppl say they've traveled there and had no problems yet there's many others that didn't live to say the same. |

Been to PV & all over eastern, western & central MX & wore my watch as I do in any country. There are parts of MX I wouldn't go to period. I don't think they really have many pick pocket types anywhere in MX - just parts where you can get kidnapped & murdered - your watch in one of those places should not be your 1st concern.

I personally wouldn't risk it. I'd worry about making my family a target.

Go past the clickbait headline here to see raw numbers: https://www.newsweek.com/americans-k...e-data-1786431 25 homicides in first 6 months of 2022. 26.2 million visits by aircraft in 2022 alone. Plus the vehicle border crossings. And the details of the killings aren’t discussed. Were drugs involved? Crime? Visits to tough locations for mission trips? Details matter. The risk of death at a resort in Mexico are less than your plane crashing on the way there. |

longtime and well respected member JPARM wears his in Mexico
If you're on the resort property and the watch is on your wrist, i think you're fine. my wife and i went to Cancun and had a great vacation. We went to a pyramid, we swam in a cenote, and attended a destination wedding. I did not wear a rolex (the only time in the last decade i haven't). I don't enjoy mexico because i don't like being "resort bound." We didn't feel exceptionally safe in our ventures off the resort property, though we did make it through unscathed. I think MX is probably safe 99% of the time, and maybe gets an unfair bad rep. But, there are better beaches, and plenty of other places for me to explore that better fit my vacation style. In a place like Mexico, personally if i were to ever return, i would not wear a rolex. For reference, i did wear an explorer 2 to italy, france, and switzerland last year on a 15 day trip; it was fine.

I went to Mexico with an IWC and came home with an IWC and BNIB Rolex from AD. No issues.

You might be fine. You might not. Why ruin even a moment of a vacation with a concern. If you need to ask you already have the answer.

Mine too. My wife typically doesn’t travel with her bridal set. IRT watches, I typically don’t travel with my Rolex pieces, as they would be a headache to replace. The others in an unfortunate event, I can walk in with insurance money and replace it that day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

All fun and games in mexico till you get robbed by the cops. I’d recommend a seiko or something you don’t mind losing. Not saying I don’t like mexico- wore a Tudor there a few times with no issues. Resorts are fine as long as it stays on your wrist but don’t go out alone with it. Somewhere in CDMX, there’s a corrupt cop wearing one of my seikos that I was forced to surrender as a “fine.”
