116519 x 126519 Rolex Service Centre - bracelet swap

Hi,

For those 116519 owners out there.

Out of curiosity I emailed the Rolex Service Centre in London asking if I could buy the bracelet of the new 126519 to be retrofitted on my 116519 - and the answer, unsurprisingly, was no.

Academic curiosity fulfilled & information shared.

126519 doesn't have a bracelet?

If it is OF or bracelet model, I believe new lug width is now 21mm

Sorry they will not be interchangeable

The OysterFlex bracelet should be the same but the buckles are different. The new OF models have glidelock clasp.

Unless Rolex changed the sizing or configuration of the OF bands, a clasp swap (in theory) should be easy. The hard part is actually ordering one . . .

Incorrect. Old and new case are the same with 20mm lugs

I would imagine the clasp will not be cheap due to being PM but it would be something I would look to do for my 519.

That’s what I was hoping to do - but the RSC won’t sell the new one to owners of the older model….

Can't say I'm surprised. Actually, I would have been more surprised if they'd said ,"Sure, why not."

Just curious, did they give a reason, such as fitment or lug width?

Oysterflex is definitely a bracelet, not just a rubber strap. This is due to the titanium blade inside the OF bracelet (it cannot be cut).

Both the 11651x and 12651x have 20mm wide openings between the lugs. Both also have the same OF widths at the clasp, so the 12 clasp would fit the 11 OF bracelet if Rolex agreed to sell 11651x customers the 12651x clasp.

Yes, they only sell a bracelet that comes originally with the particular reference….

Yep, that sounds like something they'd say. Thanks,

OysterFlex Bracelets are I guess the same between 11 and 12 series.
The main difference is in the clasp. The 12 series OysterFlex Daytonas have the glidelock clasp and the 11 doesn’t have.

"Academic curiosity fulfilled & information shared."

Love it, and thanks for checking.

Isn't it strange, but ... I sort-of ... like that Rolex is so prissily strict.

Why on earth would I like that?

I even have a pre-ceramic 116518 and so can't buy an Oysterflex at all even though I want one and yet ... still ... I like that Rolex won't sell me one.

WHY DO I FEEL THIS?!?!?

XD
