I drive a ‘01 GMC sierra 1500. Bought it with only 70k in immaculate condition for $7500. Gas sucks in California but its mine & I’m still able to save money

My car (BMW X1) is actually probably a bit on a lower tier vs my watches because my car will last ~7yrs before I get it replaced whereas my watches will (hopefully) last a lifetime

I drive a crappy car and I'm happy. I'm into watches but don't care about cars. All my savings goes into investments that generate money for me. A car is a depreciating asset and doesn't make me happy. Although I dont buy watches to invest, its an added perk that my watches will at the very least retain their value over the short-term and depreciate slowly over the long term.

My watch and my care are a perfect balance to me:
2022 X5 45e and 2023 GMT II BLNR

both are upper middle-class and not real luxury segment
both are fun and show some elegant sportiness but with a bold presence
both have some functions and capabilities I don't need every day
But: it is nice to know that both will do their job if needed

Downside: car and watch are objects in high desire by some kind of people I do not want to be associated with. I call them "self employed gastronomic entrepreneurs with an import/export side business"

-Can't post an image because of my number of posts?!

Interesting. None of my sports car purchases have depreciated. Some have experienced returns similar to the S&P500 and all while providing daily enjoyment, even if just looking at them in my garage.

I don’t consider them “investments” and don’t intend to realize returns by selling but similar to watches, most cars depreciate, some hold value, and some increase in value over time.
