For me this is a perfect combination, including the DJ36 and DJ41 configurations. I have the DJ41 full SS on jubilee and that Wimbledon dial is really growing on me.

Datejust = bezel fluted + jubilee + 36mm.

That's the traditional Datejust, and that's how I like it.

Datejust 41 vs 36

You really oughta strap the two different sizes on your own wrist and figure it out.

Some guys like to wear flik flak sized watches and some like to wear a clock on their wrist.

The size is only wrong if you are wearing it to impress others instead of yourself

The proportions on the DJ36 are nearly perfect. To the point that it's wayyyyy easier to find your wrist too small for the 41 than too big for the 36.

Current product generation: DJ41 > DJ36.

For anyone that says the DJ41 is too big, it actually measures 39.5mm. The current generation DJ36 is just too small. Cyclops on the DJ36 monopolizes the dial.

I think the 116XXX series was great though, I think the 36mm from an 116200 is better than the 126200, due to thicker lugs and smaller hour markers, gives the illusion of a bigger case.

Datejust 41 vs 36

I don’t know if this is the right thread but since it’s a DJ thread so am saying it anyway.. Has anyone tried their DJs on leather straps? Like a blue leather strap on a blue DJ? Am sure it’d look kick ass! Or maybe can guide me to such thread/post if you’re aware of on this forum. Thank you.

My wrist is exactly the same size 6.75 and I have a DateJust Oyster 36mm I have the exact Wimbledon you have on order right now the 41mm Fluted. Would you say it is proportional and doesn’t feel like a 41mm? I have a 40mm Yactmaster and I love the fit wanted to get your opinion!

36mm, oyster, Smooth bezel, silver dial with stick indices (same as the one pictured above.

I believe most people are wearing watches too big for their wrists.
My wrist is 7.5 inches and pretty flat.
After a few days wearing whatever size you adjust to the new normal.

To my eye the larger datejust looks like a cheap holiday market stall replica of a 36mm datejust.

My wrist is about 6.3" so I would chose the 36 all day long. Just think its the classic DJ size and still has a lot of wrist presence.
I tried on the 41 and even though people say it measures 39mm - it's still too big for my wrist being almost all dial.

I have a 7in wrist and wear my 20 year old 34MM DJ - love it. Don't forget size impacts comfort and wearability.

Hit the wrong button. To the member above - they have released the Wimbledon on 36MM

I bought a 41 and after while regretted it and ended up with a 36.
You'll probably do the same.
For just one watch l'd get a Oyster bracelet but the jubilee is the classic.
I've tried all the combinations but l doubt you'll get it perfect the first time round.

I have a 7.5 inch wrist, and wear a 36mm dj. My philosophy is that dressier watches should be smaller, and sports watches bigger. I think of the dj as a dressier watch since I primarily wear it to work. That said, I wear everything from a 36mm (my dj and my explorer) to a 45mm (a Panerai Radiomir), and I think they all “work” just fine. Unless you have particularly small or particularly big wrists, any watch can work.

It’s simply a matter of personal style. Ryan Gosling has a vintage style, and he dailies a 34mm.

Love that combination, classic rolex.... Not seen many photos of that set up on here. I opted for the oyster over the jubilee as I felt it suited me a little better. 41 on a 7.25 wrist)

I think what matters is what you want and if you really like it to go for it.

Own both 36mm and 41mm x 2. Have both bezels.

Size is totally up to you.

The smooth bezel makes the watch appear bigger, but the fluted plays with the light really great.

1. I have a small 6” wrist and I got the DJ41 because I like big watches

2. Jubilee bracelet with fluted bezel for the all time classic look

I recently had the same dilemma. Ended up with a DJ41 and glad I didn't get the 36mm.

What is your wrist size by the way? Keep in mind that fluted bezel always makes the watch look bigger!
