New Pepsi

I need to re pledge and will. I’m not much for reviews. My Pepsi was bought today. I have small wrists. The smaller lugs I love. I adore the jubilee bracelet. The watch is extremely light in weight compared to my deep blue. It’s like wearing a feather. The bezel stands out but doesn’t at the same time.since I support things in Europe but reside in USA, I actually use the gmt function frequently. The watch sparkles in sunlight .... oddly, the lack of maxi dial makes the face easier to read. I’m loving this piece. It’s extremely light as said. Like wearing a feather. I think Rolex nailed this one. It’s going to be a classic for many years to come and I’m fortunate to have it. I thanked my AD profusely several times and he laughed , thanking me. The jubilee bracelet makes the bezel stand out compared to the Batman. This watch is busy and conservative simultaneously. It could be worn to a wedding or with shorts. Not much more to add. It’s quite exquisite while retaining a vintage feel. It’s a tribute to past with modern features like the adjustable clasp and ceramic bezel. The bezel looks worn to me.... in a positive way.

I give up,posting pics. The sizing is too, larger then the memory usage too high. I love the watch.

I think people have gone a bit nuts over the new (Pepsi) Basel GMT. I love the watch. My life hasn’t changed . The sun still sets at night, rises in the morning.. I was at a restaurant last night wearing the GMT.. a very nice couple complimented me on the watch. I said thanks, etc. it was a nice place. I was directly asked if I would sell it. It was quite weird. I guess the hype is definitely out there. I was asked how I got it. From whom. I was awkward, didn’t want to say. The guy said he’d offer me way above retail for it. I told him I couldn’t do,that to my AD.. I’m very loyal. I think they get penalized if I sell it, at least right away. I will not say what I was offered, but it was far above retail. And I may not have paid retail.. I may have—i won’t say.

In any case, this guy really wanted to broker a deal for my new GMT. I’m not sure he was being sincere, but he wanted my phone number in case i changed my mind. Perhaps he’s reading this now... or will, later. I didn’t give my number, did not sell the piece, and won’t anytime soon... but I could have bought a used sky dweller or used Daytona with what he was offering. This watch doesn’t warrant that , for me. I love it, but to pay twice retail or even a few thousand above retail is crazy,to me. It was a very weird moment last night. The guy and his wife were at a nearby table which made it even more awkward. We had to dine after the exchange... i felt guilty for not selling it, but glad for, keeping it, etc... after a few manhattans i laughed. Before, they left,,he gave me a business card.. in sales and apparently doing well based on his card and title. I think ppl are going crazy over this watch. Not sure why. It’s nice, but it’s a watch. Stainless steel at that. Weird stuff last night.

Sounds to me like you should have sold it. Doesn’t seem like you are too bought in and you don’t understand the hype. I absolutely love mine and won’t sell it under any circumstances unless life conditions change.

My iPad corrects my words. I was saying above I can’t fathom paying twice retail for the Pepsi but if one has the means, then great. I do have the means but still can i do something like that. I really feel Rolex hit a homerun with this piece. It’s so light and balanced. If they do a sub someday with narrow lugs plus ceramic I’ll grab one . The jubilee on the Pepsi is special to me.

A few weeks later and I really enjoy the light weight of this watch. The piece was traveling upwards on my wrist. The AD took a link out and moved it to,the other side... now the clasp is a bit weird looking, but the watch rests perfectly on my wrist. This was his suggestion entirely. I took the watch in to have the clasp pin moved a bit. I’d never thought about doing this, moving a long from one side to the other.. ... anyway, the piece is feather light and I’m wearing it pretty much full time. I had a person compliment me on the piece as well... for the most part, I believe it flies under the radar, so to speak.

I bought this from an AD in North America and was called about buying it. It was a yes or no question. And cash/check only at that. I was on a list and had purchased watches before . Also I had to pick it up within 48 hours.. otherwise the next person on list was to be called it’s an AD. It was explained to me “proof of sale” must be provided to Rolex to even order another. And after one was ordered it wouid likeky take 8-9 months to get one. This wasn’t easy to get because I’ve purchased other pieces from this AD and I’ve not sold any of his pieces either. This matters to him, I believe. So I had to buy right away and cash only. A check was fine. Just no credit card. And me being old school... I kind of feel weird “charging” a watch despite getting “points” on the credit card but I’ve charged a watch before from him. He just prefers checks versus credit cards. The fees. Same warranty, receipt etc. so I’d rather say what AD but he’s in North America. USA. I do not blame dealers for wanting to avoid credit card processing fees.

I'm on a waiting list for the BLRO and ready to pounce... however, given that I have a BLNR and No Date Sub C, I don't think I could justify keeping all three... Do you think I should go with GMT x 2 or be ready to depart with the Batman....?

Unless finances are an issue, I’d keep everything. The Batman is beautiful , but of the three , no date sub is what I’d sell, if anything. The Batman really is more pronounced in color than the Pepsi. I like the Pepsi because of the jubilee bracelet, smaller lugs. I think you’ll regret selling any of them. I believe they’ll on,y increase in value also, so if you sell the Batman in 2025 vs now, you’ll make more profit. Time is on your side so I’d keep them all. If you take a vacation, you might want the simplicity of the sub, or the Batman bezel in blue... the Pepsi is the best offering from Rolex for me. I don’t see paying above retail for it, but it’s still a beautiful piece. The challenge is... so are the Batman and sub. I’d wait to sell the Batman because the prices will increase, if you even do sell it. Maybe you’ll not wear it, but you can store it, come back to its enjoy it. I personally prefer the Batman blue bezel over the blue of the Pepsi. But what I love about the Pepsi is its understated elegance, fit on wrist ... and its vintage look and feel. Keep all three,I say, then wait for value to appreciate,

I know you’ll absolutely love the piece.. the bracelet and dial legibility are amazing. The lack of lugs by comparison to the Batman etc really allow the proportions to look appropriate on a smaller wrist (like mine)..
