Got the call ... turned it down

Hi All,

Today I got a call from an Omega Boutique where I had expressed interest in the Moonshine gold Speedy with green dial and bezel.

https://www.omegawatches.com/en-us/w...31060425010001

They said they finally got in my allocation over a year from my interest. I said I was going to pass. Love the watch, but thinking now is not the time for a gold speedy.

I saw this one at my Omega Boutique last week when I was picking up my Seamaster and it’s a stunning reference! Of course it was “pre-sold” to another customer and not sitting it the display case. With that said, the watch is $40K and that’s Day Date money! I know it must have been hard to turn down, but I think you made the right move. These models will likely be selling for 1/2 MRSP on the secondary market when the hype dies down

With all of the wait lists, timing is everything. No one lives in a vacuum and there are definitely times when there are more pressing financial opportunities or obligations. Someone further down the list will be getting an unexpected surprise.

I got a similar call a month or so ago from Omega and I also passed. Cool watch and maybe at some point down the road.

These at full pop are a tough pill to swallow. Check out my listing for instance. Far cry from list! And they went nuts on pricing, now people saying no like yourself, they are probably second guessing their strategy

Btw - they are magnificent. But secondary values prove they ain’t Rolex at these levels

So nice, but I’m guessing these will come down in price on the secondary market soon.

Agree! I had my eye on the version on the rubber strap. These are beautiful watches but IMO, way too expensive. This type of money is better spent on a PM Daytona on Oysterflex, if you can get one at list.

You know best on timing for you. There was one in the case for sale in the Denver Omega Boutique (technically not a boutique, but part of Hyde Park) when I was there recently.

Got the call ... turned it down

How do you know that the time is not right when you haven’t got gold Speedy to check the time?

Any allocation that you're not looking like Ben Johnson to get to is probably best held off. Especially one of such economic investment. I love this watch, but not for RRP. Good Call.

I would have loved to have seen incoming pics, but perhaps another time.

Damn that’s a nice watch. I’m not a fan of chronographs but that really looks good.
