Seiko Beater and Homage

Since I’m passionate about watches in general and there are times when I need and wear a beater watch that I frankly don’t care about damaging I picked up this Homage/Seiko for a pretty reasonable price.

What do you guys think of these types of left field pieces? Blasphemy? Ok as beater?

In my circle of friends these homage Seiko mods have become increasingly popular. Probably do to the lack of actual stock in some of the styles they mirror. Judging by your signature line this is not the case for you.
I don't see an issue with it and plenty of fun Seiko mods out there.

Who cares what anyone else thinks? If you like it, you rock it.

I have 9 Seiko mods fulfilling the same purpose. Mine are [mostly] variations on established Seiko themes w/ updated components.

Dan, I’d be excited to see a couple you prefer the most from those 9.

I think it should say "Comix" on the dial and that would be the absolute fun - however, that watch looks this way real cool too :) Where from did you get yours?

It was being sold on Etsy by a seller in the US that appears to build these and others in small runs. I guess if one asked him he’d build one or may already be building more. He has another available right now but it isn’t the same as this one I bought. It was cheap, just 280$ (got 10% discount). I couldn’t have built one by buying individual parts for that, so it seemed like a deal.

He also had a cool milsub homage available some weeks ago but it was sold. One can see some he sold already on the review section where people have uploaded photos thanking him.

The store is called modmeccawatch

I think it makes an ideal mechanical beater or travel watch. Although I do not currently own any modified Seiko watches, the concept seems interesting.
