Hi Guys,

I'm new here and would like to get your advice regarding a red sub.

Unfortunately, the shop is not allowed to take a photo and I just can briefly describe it here. Which is a mark V dial and the overall quality is better than average, and it comes with paper. The watch is from 1972 (from the paper) and matches the serial 30xxxxx. However, the paper is a small size one, as I saw the 71/72 red sub with paper usually comes with the larger size paper. Can you give me some advice about the paper? Any other reference on how to judge whether the paper is genuine?

Has the shop a listing we can peruse ?

Certified Chronometer 'big paper' 3 fold punched is the norm.

Occasionally dealers used other types but not norm and if handwritten, not punched, caution advised unless original receipt in same handwriting etc, etc...

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know that usually is the 'big paper' punched, that's why I have a bit hesitate on it. The shops show me that "small paper" is a punched version as well

Hi Jim,
While the long type paper is the correct one, there are COSC watches with the short ones. We can go on and on describing but its not much use. There are faked papers and faked punches out there so be careful. You can ask the shop to take clear full pictures, hiding some serial numbers.

If they don’t allow you they have something to hide. It would be a show stopper for me

The obvious question is have you vetted the seller. That’s no guarantee, but it’s a good start
