Icon20 What do ya'll think about my 1018?

Hello! I updated my 1960 Rolex 1018 and wanted to get some feedback.
It now has 5512 hands, an 114270 dial and a 78690 SEL bracelet. I am attaching before and after pictures. Any thoughts? Thank you!

It’s your watch so you can do whatever you like, but it’s not for me.

Personally much preferred the old gal' as she was.... with silver radium sunburst, lovely dauphines with gun-metal s/h and nice thin bezel, and lovely old Jubilee...but each to ones own - enjoy:-)

Omgosh. Sorry — that’s unfortunate. Retooling a cool vintage watch is uncool imho

Since you're asking, I think this ruins a really nice watch.

Why wouldn't you just buy an Explorer?

I have three 1018s and only one (the good one bought right here) is in original spec, even that's got sticks. The others, one I RSC-resto-modded (wrecked watch, now I have a new one, dunno where they found the replacement dial ha) and the other just got some old Sub hands for readability, the dial is very damaged.

But this one, and your mod? I'd've kept this one in original spec, frankly. Or if changing you could've bought a 1016 dial, as well, would've looked a lot more authentic. As is the watch looks...unusual.

Finally, you may wish to do something about those lugs - 1018 looks weird with polished lugs, looks a bit ahem non-vintage-Rolex if you know what I mean.

I'd put the Jubilee back on the watch. Those end links do not fit well and will wear the lugs in some strange way. Other than that I think its a cool mod with OEM parts.

I'm guessing since it's his watch and he preferred it to the original look.

Sorry OP - Mind you, you must have considered, in posting this, that you're potentially engaging in a big dose of self-flagellation on a vintage site !
