So many great detective shows.

If anybody is interested I could list a bunch of them.
I’d love to hear your recommendations, particularly French stuff.

If I remember correctly these are French

Candice Renoir

The Paris Murders

Murder in Provence

Perfect Murders

Captain Marlowe

Murder in.... is a compilation mainly in France I think, centered in various locales and I think there are a lot of them. Not it's original name.

If it makes you feel any better, 'Sherlock and Watson' landed at #3 on the list.
As to Bond, at the top of the article, they set a few parameters for the list that disqualified 007.

"Now, before you get mad about someone we left off the list, allow us to explain a few rules we set for ourselves in the creation of this ranking: You will not find any spies, vigilantes, superheroes, monster hunters, or investigative journalists on this list."

Very nice! Thanks for the list, I’m going to find out what subscriptions my wife has and go from there.

Not sure about this list. Jim Rockford has to be top 5. I would have Crockett and Tubbs top 10. And leave off Murder She Wrote and In Heat of Night.

Like most lists, this one's based on the quality of the characters (how well they're written and performed, that is, not the quality of their "character") more than on the characters' actual detective skills.

If we're going on pure skill, then Holmes, Batman, and Columbo are your winners; with Marlowe, Fletcher, Blanc and Gunderson getting honorable mentions.

Batman would be disqualified as per the criteria. No superheroes.

Ah, I misread. OK, add Marlowe to the podium and bump up Nick Charles from "The Thin Man" to take Marlowe's place in Honorable Mentions.

Indeed. Otherwise I would have mic dropped Maxwell Smart.

Loved the Thin Man movies. We even had a Wire Fox Terrier we named Asta.

Sherlock Holmes and Thomas Magnum!

Just to be different, “House, M.D.” is a “medical mystery” show, with Hugh Laurie (House) = Holmes, and his best friend Dr. Wilson = Watson
