Modern 321

Probably like many on this forum...I've long loved the Speedmaster.

To me the iconic chronograph is special for many reasons. I could go on about the dial, the case, bracelet, pushers,.... But the 321 movement tied to Lemania and NASA history is what has long been my true draw to the watch.

A bunch of years back, I had some bad experiences looking to acquire vintage Speedmasters, so much so, that it turned me off of the Speedy. I assumed that I would never own a Speedmaster with a caliber that went to the moon.

Then...the steel 321 came out, I fell in love, I saw this as a chance for a modern version of history. When the Canopus 321 was announced, the price point gave me some pause, but I was drawn to the historic nature of the piece.

I really feel lucky to have these two watches and can not express how much joy they bring to me.

I look forward to many years ahead adding my own wear, scratches, and dings as these watches age with me and my family.

...a few amateur pics included below.

Wow. Huge incomings. That canopus is actually a pretty rare watch I've only seen it IRL a couple times. Memorizing heft and total stealth. Enjoy in good health.

A Canopus 321...holy $h1t! You're the only person on TRF or OF that I've seen get one.

I agree with your comment about the price point. Sort of feel Platinum would’ve been apt at that level.

I’m sure you will love it just as it is.

So nice. Both of them are awesome but that Canopus is on another level. That has got to feel great on the wrist.

Congratulations on getting these two.

I really like my SS 321 and I like the look of the Canopus as well but I doubt I could get one.

I hope you enjoy both of them.

That's the first Canopus 321 I've seen in the wild. At that price point, I'm surprised Omega managed to sell any of them, especially when the 321EW sates most of the vintage inspired itch for most.

Enjoy both watches in good health!

Blimey - what a pair. Huge congrats. I’ll still with my steel one. That Canopus is gorgeous, but miles out of my pay grade! Enjoy

Congrats!! I absolutely love my 321 and can only imagine how amazing that Canopus 321 is. Does it wear a lot smaller than the SS 321 being the bezel is smaller and doesn’t overhang like the SS 321?

I have the 321 Ed white and platinum versions and couldn’t agree with the price point on the canopus - please convince me to get it!

Wow, you’re a rock star! The steel is incredible but the Canopus is a mic drop watch. Well done!

What incredible watches...the canopus 321 is absolutely the top of the horological pike...share your thoughts and wrist shots of both watches to give a real life look...thats probably as close as most of us are ever gonna get to these :)

To stimulate this thread (I know I could just look it up), but what’s the price difference between the 321 PT and the Canopus Gold?

I guess at least you get a full gold bracelet vs a strap?

I'm in the same boat. When I picked up my 321EW, I was invited to view the OB's first (and only) 321P.

WOW...I was blown away. The watch had everything you could want in a limited production Speedmaster. Let's just say it was an easy sale for the OB.

I like the Canopus 321 for it's exclusivity...largely due to its lofty price. Is that enough for me to pull the trigger? Sadly, no.

Congratulations OP. That’s a good looking piece! I was at my boutique yesterday to pick up my Snoopy. My sales rep said there are only 8 watchmakers at Omega who work exclusively on the Canopus 321. I guess the exclusivity, canopus gold, the onyx dial and the movement justify the price.

Hello d11n

Having had the watch a while now, what do you think of it, do you have any observations to share?

I have to say that I think it is lovely and I’m a bit envious of you having it!

Also, on a more personal note, from your ‘name’, do you work with D11s? I served my apprenticeship with Caterpillar and I still think they are great!

Thanks

Does the design of the seahorse interfere with looking through the display back at the 321?
