Omega SMP for Christmas

I gave my wife a wishlist a week or so back which listed (a) Sigma lens for my D70 (b) HPI Savage Nitro RC monster truck (c) TomTom Go 910 GPS

After mulling and checking out the AD in Markham, I decided that an Omega was missing in my life so I decided to price out the Omega SMP "bond", and not the coaxial version. I think I can get a good deal on it for about 20-30% off.

So spoke with my wife, and she agreed to buy me a SMP... woohoo. However I won't be able to wear it until after the 25th

Ya, I tried the PO, both 42 and 45. Surprisingly, the 45mm didn't look that big at all. However the dial looked plain, and I still like the seamaster wave dials with the painted hour indices. I don't like the WG on the newer ones, I leave Rolex to do that

Anyway, I've made up my mind on the SMP. Gotta haggle on two ADs tomorrow and see which one will give us the best deal.

Hey Peter,

I heard about the Tom Tom first from a buddy at work, it is hillarious that you can change the voices of these things. He changed his to an Austin Powers and it was hillarious...

Congrats Vernon! I think the Bond SMP is a stunning watch. If I've ever had "seller's remorse" it's from selling my Bond. Supurbly accurate and just drop dead beautifull, IMHO it's one of the best watches out there and destined to become a classic.
The blue wave dial is fantastic and I think the skelton hands add a real touch of class!
Not to mention it's one of the most comfortable watches I've seen.
Good show!!

Well got the last SMP from the AD's in Markham. I tried to get the best deal, but they won't budge past the 20.5% discount especially knowing that they are the only ones carrying the 2531.80 model.

Well its all wrapped up and ready to be opened for Christmas!

JJ and I will be like little kids waiting to open their gifts at Christmas Eve.

Nice one Vernon... looks like lots of guys here have to wait until the 25th.

BTW, what is a tomtom. I thought it was a kind of drum.

TomTom is a brand of personal GPS systems. I've never heard of it before until a buddy at work showed me it. It is a cool device!

I was checking the SMP prices, looks like 30% is pretty standard, you can get it from amazon even.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?ie=U...&creative=9325

Tom Tom is about $580

yeah, I tried to push for 30%, but they wouldn't budge. They know it is a hard watch find now a days especially with the new coaxial versions out which jacks the prices by a bit.

Vernon,

Hey my friend! You are lucky to find a new one, I guess it's better then waiting for my used SMP!

There is an AD I know of in Woodbridge who could give you about 30% but not sure if he carries that model... but if its already wrapped up then congratulations and ENJOY! I hope we can meet before Christmas and compare our SMPs!

Congrats, Vernon. We'll expect plenty of pics no later than the 26th.

I loaded TomTom on my Treo 700. I have to carry around the sensor and cable (which easily slip into my briefcase), but other than that it's really portable. Now I don't have to order the GPS in rental cars at $10/day.

I had the nuvi 350 but the screen was so dim I took it back. I have since purchased the Garmin 496 since I can use it for flying too. But I still want a tiny one. How bright is the TomTom display?

I don't think you want to trust tomtom for flying.
Its Pretty bright, brighter than ipod video I think.

Hi Ed,

I have the Treo650, maybe the hand held versions would be good. Let me look into that!

Thanks,

Vernon

Hey Vernon, out of interest, which AD in Markham did you get it from.

The AD in markham was L'Oro in Markville Mall.

GPS? I need it for sure. I suck at directions.

Tom Tom needs to come out with a POI (point of interest) update with all the RSC and AD.
