I love my Black Monster and hope to get an Orange Monster next month. I say go for it For the price you really can't go wrong. I find the fact that you can't wind it from the crown to actually be a time saver, all I need to do is pick it up and give 20-30 shakes and a way it goes. It's a great watch

You can try here for spring bars :

I have been using Maratac NATO strap (relatively thin) which has a slight resistance with the original set of Monster spring bars.

Btw - Mosnter's lug width is 20mm.

Thanks Joji,

Much appreciated. I have a regular black NATO which I can use...but I was considering these beefy orange ones

Maybe I will stick to thin.

Would this heavy duty NATO fit properly on the Monster?

That's awesome, Bill, look forward to seeing pics of it. We both have similar sized wrists, so I'm interested to see how you like the fit of it. Did you get it with the bracelet or strap?

Hey John

I got the bracelet, but will likely wear it on NATO. Figured I would go with conventional wisdom as it's usually more flexible / economical to get the bracelet first.

Will definitely post pics. Actually the watch is at my ups store now. Will have it Saturday!

New Orange Monster...

Well, I just picked this up...and just emailed the Amazon seller as the watch has a gouge / scratch on the Bezel protector at the 6 o'clock position! Noticed it as I was taking these photos.

(You can see the gouge & scratch best in the second photo)

No protective plastics...wonder if the watch was a return. Will let you know what the seller says.

Looks great, but now I may just put it on NATO / not adjust the bracelet until I get the replacement I demanded. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH

I hope you get resolved easily, Bill. Your un-Rolex-esque comment cracked me up! I guess for 200 bucks you aren't going to get all the little accoutrements. Great looking watch, though!

That's awesome, Bill, and it looks great! It sounds like Amazon took care of you. Are you comfortable how it wears on your wrist? It looks like the size is just about perfect.

Orange Monster

I had both a black and orange monster. Great watch at a great price. Definitely buy it on the bracelet and get the rubber strap later.

I've worn one or the other every year when I take my niece and nephew to the water park. I don't really want to risk scuffing up a good watch on the water slides!

I ended up selling my orange monster since I purchased a Doxa. I wore the Doxa almost all summer.

Here is a pic of the orange monster I sold.

I still have the black monster. I picked mine up through the shop at PMWF.

Thanks Dan. I think the small sellers who sell through Amazon have to be straight up. Even though I paid about $17 USD more than at smaller places, it was worth it.

I am VERY comfortable with how it wears John. I need to adjust the bracelet, but the pin system is a bit cumbersome. Will be nice to have a bracelet to wear as well. The quality is pretty decent for a < $200 watch.

Size is perfect!

Per Joji's advice, I may buy some thinner spring bars and try a beefy NATO. Also have an Orange NATO on the way.

IMHO a Monster is a must have. Yes, there is no manual wind or hack setting and they do have a slight tendency to run a little fast but nothing to worry about. For the $, you can't beat it.
I would never get rid of my BM on OEM rubber.

Another great monster thread awesome.

James (Gedanken) introduced me to the monster, I was going to get a Seiko sub until he sent me pics of the black monster, that did the deal for me.

I have an orange in sight for the future, and thanks to Bill (Speed) it will be living on Nato :-) for the money this watch is amazing!!!!

At my daughters birth I wore my 16610, this time its going to be the monster tomorrow at my son's birth hehehehe. I know so many people who have gone out and grabbed a monster after seeing mine, love it!!!

Go the monsters

Say...LongIslandWatch.com just got more Orange Monsters in. I tried to buy one at this site after Gob Bluth (Ross) and Sunburst (Joji) recommended them. Unfortunately they were out of stock. I think they are $174

I bought the monster via a seller at Amazon for $18 more...was sold a used watch the first time.

John, I can't contribute much to this thread since I have never had a Seiko. But I just wanted to say that I have always found these watches to be a very attractive, sporty watch. And very affordable. I would not mind having one on my wrist.

Yeah, Richard, you can't beat the value/quality combo of these pieces. I'll be picking one up at some point, just need to save some bucks for now.
