Loving the turtle reissue, vintage look, everyday reliability and good lume. Will be picking one up soon. Don't like the standard strap and really dislike the rubber.
There's some superb replacement bracelets with SEL and screw links.

I have to say I'm so impressed with my Seiko 007. I mean obviously it's no Rolex, but I still get the same satisfaction wearing it, which I love given it's price. Today I changed the bezel to a smooth bezel and couldn't be happier...I think it looks perfect now!

Hello, just registered, first post.

How did you change the bezel on that? It looks stunning, like a Tudor Black Bay 36 with a date!

Thank you!

Kevin

Hey bud. I ordered the oyster strap online and it was a fairly easy swap with the right tools (although the fat Spring bars can be a little tricky!). I ordered the bezel from Murphymanufacturing and simply followed YouTube videos to swap the bezels. Remember to swap the o ring from old to new and to remove the metal ring that allows for bezel rotation completely when installing the smooth bezel.

I think these mods suit the watch perfectly and have transformed its look! Here's another pic...

Nice!, and brings up memories from my summers passed:

I was looking through some old pictures and randomly found this one. Sorry it's a crappy scan. Probably not the same vision or memories of Aspen that most on the forum have! It is the only evidence I have been able to find of owning this watch! I bought it used around 1978, from a pawn shop in Westwood, CA.

This photo was taken around 1981 back in my past life on a Helitack crew, fighting forest fires around the Western US (this photo was in Aspen in fire camp. Hunter S. was still alive and well, and a bit of a cult hero for us at the time). The watch had been with me on a bike tour in New Zealand and Tasmania, surfing trips, three summers on the fire lines and multiple deep powder days in Utah. (I certainly didn't take any evasive actions to prevent scratches when I saw someone else walking my way, or wonder "is it safe to...")

I had no idea it had a name "Pogue" - amazing what you can learn on the internet.

It sadly met its demise when it lost its water resistance and leaked - I was told it wasn't worth fixing and it went in the trash.

Finding this photo made me think about trying to find a replacement - they seem to be running $300 - $600. Mine did not have the "Resist" dial. Is it worth the premium $s?

What do you think - worth the pursuit, or a nostalgic waste of $$$?

Does anyone have the SBDN029 Freemans Sporting Club special edition, it would be great to see some photos of this watch other than the stock images.

That's a great collection! Variety of dials and bracelets.

I might have to get one of these myself!

great pictures. I've recently become enamored with Seiko and picked up two skx007's (different bezels/bracelets) and an skx009 and love them. I don't feel like that is the end either, lol.

Like many others I struggle with Seiko due to the size. Give me a 40/41mm SBDC007 and I'm in

They have a sub-ish style that is about in your size range.
