Possibly Steve, but likely a lighter mesh one rather than Jubilee or Oyster style. Not really thought about it to be honest

Thanks for all the comments guys. I just got home and will post again tomorrow with answers, thoughts, wrist shots and pages from the new Japanese Seiko catalogue for 2018, including the Turtles and some other cool stuff I picked up

I am not a fan of the bracelet on the SRPs at all. I have mine on a DAL1BP strap from Seyia Japan.

It's much like BIC, with the discount already there on the label. About 12% off for anyone, then another 8% sales tax off for foreign tourists. Here's the display case just before I bought the watch.

At BIC I also got another 5% off my Grand Seiko a couple of months ago, for using a Visa card, but that wasn't offered here.

Yes, it's basically the 777 in all but name. It has the same case number (4R36-04Y0). It's closest to the SRP777J in that it says Made in Japan on the dial and back. The one percent difference is that it has a Kanji day wheel insted of the Arabic or Roman supplied with the 777J.

Anyway, in Japan it's a new domestic market model (SBDY015) for 2018, and not likely to mean a ref# change worldwide.

my SRP says "movement japan" on the back. My 773 came w bracelet, the heaviest watch I've ever owned, I love the rubber strap, very nice and comfy. I haven't worn it much but it lost less than 10 sec/day and ran a good while off the wrist. My first Turtle. I see why they call it a "cushion case", it wears comfortably. Great watch pics and great sightseeing pictures... not sure the blue was the best move for me. it is very subtle. Still feeling it out... but alot of fun without breaking the bank...

Here's a summary of the dials as I am aware...

The SRP777 says "Mov't Japan" (USA market)
The SRP777K says only "4R36" (rest of world)
The SRP777J says "Made in Japan" (Middle East market, with Arabic or Roman + English day wheel)
The SBDY015 says "Made in Japan" (Japanese market, with Japanese/Kanji +English day wheel)

All basically the same watch, with slight variations in dial, caseback markings and day-wheel language.

That's very interesting Adam, but do any of the different designations denote a different level of quality or origin of manufacture?

I don't know, Steve. Here's what looks like a good summary some way into a thread on the subject, but there is much ensuing disagreement.

http://forums.watchuseek.com/f21/dif...2783626-3.html

Quality-wise, mine seems to have similar issues to the other "international" versions, i.e. slightly offset chapter ring and hour hand hitting the hour marker 6 or 7 minutes ahead of the minute hand hitting 12. I can get my friend to fix these, and regulate it (not really timed it yet), so I'm not too bothered. It is nice to have a Kanji date wheel, though.

Thanks for the info Adam. I love my 779 and highly recommend a turtle for daily beating.

Congrats! I love my SRP777. It's the only watch I've kept outside of my Explorer.

Hi Paul. The divers extension digs into my wrist after wearing it awhile. I have tried to like it but it is just uncomfortable to wear. It's funny, I have a Sumo with the same divers extension and it is fine. The only difference is the width of the bracelets. 22mm on the SRP and 20mm on the Sumo.

This is my first Turtle. I had several monsters and the Titanium. The bezels are reportedly hit or miss. Several of my monsters were perfect, some were off a little bit. My Turtle is off a little. The Titanium, I think SBDC029- lined up perfectly. I imagine the more expensive ones may get more attention to detail. But it is minor in the scheme of things.

The rubber strap is fantastic. Very comfortable with a cool buckle, and very soft. On the bracelet, my 773 weighed 6.9 ounces. That is way too heavy for me. I'm not a diver, but if i was, I want to surface at some point lol

Congrats, Adam.
Was at BIC yesterday and they had all 3 new Turtles on display. Eye on the Pepsi SBDY017 Padi dial but it only came w a bracelet. Cause for hesitation.

I don't mind spending extra for the rubber tho so maybe an incoming soon.

Congrats! I have a Turtle PADI with Strapcode Super Jubilee and 300m Marine Master claps. it's very comfortable for me. I like it so much that I bought another PADI J1 version while I was in HongKong just for spare.

Thanks guys. Still wearing it daily two weeks later. Seems to be my go-to outdoors watch now that the weather is heating up here. Running about +7/day

Nice! Love mine.

I was tempted by the new smaller blue dial “Mini Turtle” but still mulling.

Very nice Adam! I’m very tempted by the turtle, but a bit worried about the size! If you get a minute would you mind posting a photo of it next to your Ranger? Would help me visualize the size better, cheers in advance

Sure, here you go...

The Turtle is a little wider but a bit smaller lug-to-lug, more comfortable with its circular case, no sharp edges or corners, and no protruding crown (and rubber strap of course).

There was a bit of talk that a few of the original reissue turtle line up would be axed, thats not confirmed though, it might just be numbers changing as you say, but the whole line will not be axed, if anything they might reduce a few of the early line up for new colours..
Seiko were asked about that rumour at Basel and the rep laughed.
SRPs arnt going anywhere, they have been a huge success for seiko.

The turtles actually wear smaller than 44mm imo, the curved underside of the case means that theres not a lot of steel on your wrist, its almost just the caseback size thats on your wrist, for this reason its very comfortable, theres nothing to dig into the hand when the wrist bends.
Lug to lug these are only 47mm i think, they can fit on surprisingly small wrists.
