Slightly over 7.1”

Wears better than a turtle due to the thinner case and 19mm strap.

For some reason it looks huge in photos!

Congrats!!! Looking good, sir

Oh and I agree with you - a Seiko's diver-trilogy reissue seems perfect to me (and all I am planning for). What would be next anyway... the Tuna? Well, there have certainly been enough Tuna tributes so I'm not sure how Seiko could pull of another one next year...

Thank you sir!
Waiting for your pictorials!
Yes there have been far too many TUNAs, even those Gundams are still plenty everywhere I visited, and I found about 2 quartz re-issue as well
Let see.....

It’s okay I suppose... the crown guards and the small-ish crown is not the most convenient combination and it does affect the feel. Clicks are positive, and winding action is just like 017.

But the watch is sexy! :)

There is no way Martin Sheen's character in Apocalypse Now would have paid US$5,000 for a Seiko diver even if the timeframe for those events occurred today.

I see the Seiko is trying to maximise the profit $ for the amount of work they put into a watch these days. OK that's business, but its a little sad for the traditional Seiko enthusiast.

Only seen the watch in photos so its hard to judge. It looks great in some respects.

That’s a different reference in a different time though. I think there are people like myself who are relieved it’s not the same watch, that it can be appreciated now for what it is.

Looks great!

Enjoy it! But I couldn’t part with $4K knowing that there are similar looking watches for under $400.

Similar looking but far from similar quality.

But you spend your money as you see fit.

I think this watch may be a great buy for some.

Tru dat. However, for every $$$$ LE SLAnnn Seiko issued, there are a dozen "classic" $$ & $$$ Seikos issued as well and 2019 is no exception. Whenever I stroll by the local Seiko AD I'm tempted to pick up the one or other €500 / €900 Seiko but then I remember I have to save the cash for the next SLA...

Hence the reason I only have ~4 Seikos and the "traditional Seiko enthusiast..." has two dozen...

Seiko can go up in price too as a collectable watch.
I bought the Ninja Turtle for $400 and now its worth more than $2,000.

But its sad that Seiko has stopped making the SKX007 & SKX009. This seems to mark an upmarket transition in the Seiko range. An affordable Seiko may soon be an Orient. Maybe not but I hate to see the SKX009 go.

As for the SLA033 as a limited edition it can only been seen as an enthusiasts or serious collectors watch, which in some ways is cool, but they could have just made it to standard Turtle specifications and then it would be a true re-issue at $400 as the original 6105 sold for $50 in the day.

Its interesting in the USA the RRP of the SLA033 is $4250 (AUD$6,000) but the retail price in Australia was $7,000. My local shop got 6 pieces and they're all sold out. I guess the "stop sign" second hand didn't hold anyone back from buying this watch.

I spent more than an hour selecting mine yesterday - had the very fortune of having from two to choose between

Both had a less-than-spectacular second-hand (aka the same as your standard SBDX001/17 and breathen) which has a very rough finish and the 1st one had a slight alignment issue (bezel or dial, not sure who's really at fault..). But in the end, quite pleased with the overall package and it joins my SLA017 & SLA025

Its a very nice watch and I like it. How is the timing on it? I wish Seiko would tighten up the tolerances especially on a watch of this price.

two of the three of my LEs run between -1 & +5 which is awesome if you ask me. One runs a bit faster at +10 but it's still fine (and in the crown up position only it runs -5 so it offsets perfectly every night to bring it back to +5)

In case anyone was thinking of using the M117113H0 bracelet from the SLA017, here are some photos. It doesn’t really work:

Yeah its not a very good fit unfortunately.

Does Seiko make any bracelet for any turtle past/present that has a lug drop out of 19mm?

For the price being paid Seiko should really have also supplied a properly fitting bracelet with the SLA033, just like they did with the SLA017. Seiko really dropped the ball on this issue.
