Not quite how I pictured a ninja. But the camera never lies.
It was either a suit of run around naked doing squats.

Exactly, well stated. People who talk out loud in front of everyone while doing other things think they look important, but it is really just douchy.

I am not a fan of people who are on their phones (texting, talking, surfing web, etc.) in the gym. If you're serious about your fitness then you schedule workouts like a business meeting. Go in with a plan and execute it. Leave the phone in the locker or your car.

Can't imagine the horrible level of problems TRF's members have... I mean, talk on the phone at the gym. Morbid.

Must go to my shrink now.

I have my sennheisers on and my playlist on blast. I go in work out and get out. I don’t bother people unless they bother me.

I only consider talking on the phone while in the gym rude if the person is hogging gym equipment and yapping away at the phone while there is a line of people waiting to use it.

It all comes down to situational awareness.

I think most of us know if we are bothering others when we are on our phones. The polite thing to do is excuse yourself while having a conversation on your phone IMO

Is it rude to talk on a cell phone at the gym?

YES! I don't want to hear your F-ing conversation. There is nothing that important that you need to talk aloud in the gym when everyone can hear you!

Send the person on the other end a text and let them know you are at the Gym and It Is RUDE to talk on the phone in the Gym!!!!

Jonathan - we might need to make a few trips to test our cell service in various gyms - you know for analytical purposes. We can just call each other.....

ZFG about what anyone else is doing while I’m at the gym as long as they don’t smell horrible. I wear wireless earphones and listen to music or podcasts. Hygiene and keeping the equipment orderly is all I care about.

I’ve never had a conversation longer that 2 mins while working out though. Most people recognize the situation and keep it brief.

I go to one here in SF but you do find the occasional homeless person taking a shower .... that’s what $10 a month gets you. Thank god I have a shower at the office.

Except you can’t actually lift real weights there... i was trying to move gyms but they told me there’s not much free weights. It’s all about machines and treadmills and such.
I paid close to 80 a month at lifetime, now I’m at PF for 20 bucks, and they have a ton (literally) of free weights...

I think your being a little harsh, it gets the job done...

Depends on the volume.
If you sound like a douche, you're probably a douche.

If you're keeping it down for a short period of time, I don't see the harm in it.

As long as you’re not blocking equipment, it’s not rude. Same thing with two people chatting at the gym.

Who really cares?

At least while J is on his phone at the gym he won’t be bumping into me on the street during a video call.

Now is there a ‘TGF’ somewhere?
