A very sad story of theft!!!!!!!!

I am telling this story so readers will not make the mistake I did.

About two weeks ago I listed a GMT IIC on EBAY. I did a regular auction like I have so many times. As the auction was coming to an end I saw one of the bidders had no feedback. I called ebay and they said "Everyone has to start somewhere" so wanting to give this person a shot like someone did for me, I proceeded.

The bidder tpitravelgofly
won the bid paid the fee and I sent the GMT IIC. Upon arrival the winning bidder put a $1100.00 hold in paypal. He was unhappy because the warranty card wasnt inside. Even though I had it highlighted in red that the card would be sent out 30 days after the sale. I would overnight it to him as soon as it came in. Mr. Ramos was still not happy, after a few email of him telling me I am a crook and a liar I ask him to send it back for a full refund.

He sent it back, by IT I mean a empty box!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have opened a case with Paypal to make sure he doesnt get the money, and now I wait!!

Email: tpitravel@hotmail.com
User ID: tpitravelgofly
Name: Robert Ramos
City: Miami
State: FL (787) 531-5522

Maybe listing his info is not a good idea but at this point I dont really care. Mr. Ramos are you reading this? I hope not, I really love this community and I hope Mr. Ramos will never discover it.

With human mis communication happens but after I agreed to give him a full refund within the hour of him letting me know he was unhappy, to delibrately send a empty box back is nothing but criminal.

All my peeps on TRF in Miami, please watch out for this guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jason, I believe you will be able to keep your money with paypal. Their are a ton of crooks out there, and it might be a bit of an arduous task to get this straightened out, but I believe you will be able to get it sorted. Good luck, and sorry for the headache.

BTW, I DETEST Fleabay

Ugh I hate paypal and ebay sucks for sellers. I dont think you can even leave negative feedback. They've gone out of control to "protect" buyers.

this is terrible for you.. im sorry to hear.

the warning to all here must be "do not accept paypal for high value items". i know ebay says you have to, but it is safer for you to take a bank transfer. if you have a reputation for being a good seller on ebay, "genuine" buyers will not have a problem with this.

i just paid for a NOS steel oyster bracelet on ebay, a seller in argentina.. he does not accept paypal..i sent a moneygram. i was happy to do this as he had many high value rolex sales in his feedback using this method of payment,..so this does happen and does work.

im sorry to hear of your potential loss, keep in good comms with paypal on the phone, hopefully, they will decide in your favour.

advice to sellers.. if accepting returns, be sure to take a video of you recieving, signing for and opening the package in one continuous, seamless film with no spilts or blackouts and make sure the camera never drops the package from view. you will want unrefutible evidence of the contents of that parcel.

best of luck.

theres no real protection for buyers either people!
you guys need to get educated with the whole ebay gig..
I once bought a very high end Pam on the bay and when it arrived it was a complete fake..so I call ebay and let them know, but because the seller had a few high end sales and a proven track record they tell me I have 3 days to get an authenticity report (even though I am a watch seller myself!..I write authenticity reports for people on their watches to send into ebay, but apparently I am not qualified to know if a watch that I personally bought is real oir fake??)
the long and the short of it is that there are very very few people qualified to authenticate a vintage Panerai and I was unable to locate someone in the 3 day period they alloted,so they initially told me I lost my claim!
it took me close to 6 months and a whole mess of trouble to finally get a refund and I was just blown away at how easy it is for a crook to rob you on a supposedly "trusted site" like ebay, where they have "buyer protection",etc..etc..
it is so much easier for you to deal with trusted sellers on these Rolex forums, where everyone knows everyone and people are actually willing to help another member out.

Paypal is good protection for both sides if you use it correctly. I have sold hundreds of items and 4 Rolex watches via eBay/PayPal and have had no problems that weren't handled favorably.

When selling any high dollar item, always take photos of the item and its packing. It takes a few extra minutes, but good proof that you actually sent what you sold.

Most people that don't like PayPal don't understand PayPal. Some have rightful gripes.

When buying a high dollar item on eBay I write the seller several time with questions to feel them out. I even ask if we could speak on the phone so that I can clarify a few things. This has worked for me...

should have set your parameters in my ebay to disallow bidders w/ less
than "x" feedback. i believe my min bidder allowance is set to 5 fb or so.

i would have not completed the sale w a zero fb buyer. not my game.

paypal is poo poo

like I said in my previous posts

1. sold laptop... buyer used it for 30 days then claim that it wasn't as described.... I lost the case and got the laptop back...
2. Sold a HTC smart phone... buyer bought it and then claimed it was a fake HTC... (I swore to my grand parents grave that it was a real HTC...) anyway, if fake BUYER can destroy it and get full refund... I lost the case and never got the phone back plus loss my money

never Ever paypal... if IF PAYPAL don't post till money in your bank account and in your listing TICK NO RETURN

Paypal is a bunch of basterds

eBay has grown too big within a short period of time and its business spreads from one end of the world to another. It is just impossible for it to vet every item, every buyer and every seller.

It is the duty and responsibility of every seller and buyer to be extremely wary, since amongst the players, surely there are people (buyer and seller) who are out to make a quick buck.

For sellers, avoid dealing with buyers with a low FB and for buyers, buy the seller, first - though be careful of hijacked accounts.

To our unfortunate member, we pray and hope, you will recover your loss.
