Ever See A Iceberg From Top To Bottom

This is awesome! This came from a Rig Manager for Global Marine Drilling in St. Johns, Newfoundland.

They actually have to divert the path of these things away from the rig by towing them with ships!

Anyway, in this particular case the water was calm & the sun was almost directly overhead so that the diver was able to get into the water and click this pic. Clear water huh?!

They estimated the weight at 300,000,000 tons, thats a lot of ice man

Wow! No doubt they get that big, but does that picture look real to you? It could be, but the way some sections of the bottom of that berg are glowing doesn't seem right.......but still, wow!

Whoa! That is so friggin' awesome, Padi. So it's true that around 85% of a berg is under water.

The other day on National Geographic I watched a programme where these guys actually towed a massive berg with these huge ships. There are even distant plans to harness all the water that can be obtained from these free floating monsters and tow them to places like Africa where there is an acute shortage of natural water resources.

Very interesting. Thanks, Padi.

In other words, don't believe anything you see or hear unless you see it with your own eyes or hear it with your own ears.

Doesn't that speak volumes about the state of the world in which we live today.

On the Internet, cynicism rules.

Surely you realize that almost all those "amazing" photos, heart-tugging stories, and lists of surprising "facts" -- are FAKE.

Always, always, ALWAYS check http://www.snopes.com before taking any of that stuff as truth. It's funny how some people seem to get nailed by every one of those things, while others never fall for it.

I don't think it's anything negative about the state of the world. It just shows that people realize they have an enormous audience on the Internet, and they can be very creative. :-)

Voted as such for a third consecutive year in 2005. Wow. Reminds me of what I imagine a few of the trolls we see on these forums might look like

Whoa, where did you get that doctored picture from, Micah. That thing can't be real. It looks like a Lucasfilm computer generated ugly.

It's real, go to snopes.com (a website that "outs" urban legends as true or false) and click on "Hottest 25 Legends", that dog is #17, and true. The contest is held every year in Sonoma, just over the mountain from my home. And that is one ugly dog, no doubt about it!
