Hi from Paris

Hi fellow members,
I have few modern rolex, and an AP, but... I fell in love with vintage 1665, 5513 and 1675. I'm here to learn more about them and to achieve a personal project: I can't really find the perfect vintage watch for me, there is always something wrong (weird patina, dials, wrong mov., weird hands color, weird insert color or patina, wrong clasp or bracelet, weird seller, etc.). So I decided to source genuine parts on Ebay and Chrono24, and to build one from scratch. I'm sure it will be an interesting journey, and I will learn many stuffs about vintage rolex. A the end of the day, a professional watchmaker based here in Paris will build the watch and service the movement. It could take years to collect all parts form proper sellers... I know. I know also that it's a risky project because there are a lot of fake/replica parts, or stolen parts. That's why I could ask for help, advice, and I will try to bring my humble knowledge to help other membres here if I can.
Thanks for reading

Ps: I didn't find the right home for my family, so I built it is as well ;)

Welcome to the forum, Bob Sacamano.

Sounds as if you have already become deeply involved with the love of watches.

Your current efforts with the "old collectables" sounds extremely interesting. PLEASE keep us advised as your restoration work continues.

Hello Bob!

Welcome and join the club of Parisians... (I live in Montreuil).

Why not wait till you find a beautiful vintage, rather than have to assemble parts?

You are talking of your knowledge that you may share, are you repairing/maintaining watches?

I don't know... I just like to source consistent parts and choose them. I just want to do it that way! I hope it's not a psychiatric alert. And I want to be sure about what is inside the case!
